Lol, the gmoney troll, I'm surprised you even open up your mouth these days after all the absurd things you said about Cassel last year. I still laugh to this day thinking about it. Back under your rock, troll.

Haha. Oh yeah. You mean when I overrated Cassel? Whoopty doo. What was really bizarre was this guy lashing out to other members with stuff like this

http://cowboyszone.com/threads/cowboys-vs-giants-post-game-thread.334502/page-10#post-6361580

In every single QB thread. It was just bizarre how much this guy directed comments to his own defense of Weeden and calling others idiots if they thought differently.

This sound familiar?

"The object of the game is not to "go deep", it's to win. Maybe now you and Cassel both understand why Weeden, who was the opposite of careful in college and Cleveland, suddenly comes here and loses his nerve after practicing with Terrance Williams for two years.

Isn't this literally the exact same thing you troll the board with in every Dak thread?

at least I'm smart enough to admit when i'm wrong

http://cowboyszone.com/threads/matt...re-to-play-against-bills.339250/#post-6480711

Remembering all those posts from last year to add to your wealth of contribution this year is funny to me though.

You're still just trollin', trollin', trollin'. Do you pay the Troll toll?

Someone else will have to help with lost fumbles, but right now Prescott has the lowest INT% in a season for QB with at least 300 attempts. The official record low INT% for a season (min 224 att) is Damon Huard in 2006, with 1 INT in 244 attempts.

To break that record, Dak would need to average 30 attempts per game with no INT the rest of the season. He currently averages 30.9 attempts per game. He is on a streak of 145 attempts without an INT right now, but would need to average 38 attempts per game the rest of the way to equal Brady's record of 335.
ok thanks, that would be hard to beat those.
main thing is getting to 15-1

lol... the only thing that is correct in this worthless drivel is that you were wrong, as usual. My stance on Weeden was always that he lost his nerve because he was being forced to play a style that wasn't conducive to his admittedly limited talent, whereas this year the coaches were smart enough to actually alter the scheme enough to fit who is running it. Dak was a dink and dunk guy in college, so it actually works out that he can dink and dunk as a pro. I also said, in this very thread, that dink and dunk isn't bad it just explains why we haven't had a lot of mistakes, which is sort of, you know, the topic of this thread.

Your stance on Cassel was that he was some kind of obvious upgrade to the offense, when in fact he put up a QB rating a whopping 20 points less than Weeden while here and anyone with a functioning brain could tell his arm was done by watching his Vikings and Bills preseason footage.

Back under your rock you go.

It was good, but it's a much better unit with Leary. Much better. Collins still has a long way to go.

Add in Zeke and it's better still.
It's not significantly better. You are talking 1/5th of the line, and the difference between Collins and Leary is not trash to superstar, more like solid to above average. Let's not overstate things here. This line is better really just in run blocking when you take out external factors, where Leary is a beast. A point to consider in all this talk of how much better the oline makes the QB, is the simple fact that the QB can actually make the oline look better than it is. The oline can absolutely look worse than it actually is with a statue QB with zero pocket presence standing there and getting hit. This QB on the other hand can make the oline look better than it is with good pocket presence and being able to climb the pocket and scramble when necessary as well as simply making quicker decisions. It absolutely goes both ways IMO. So the oline may have improved from 2015 to 2016, but that improvement is not attributable solely to one player on the line. Nor just Zeke. Dak can make the oline look better too, and I think there is plenty of evidence that he has.

It seems some take the fact that Dak doesn't make idiotic mistakes as him being a bus driver when he couldn't be further from it. I'm obviously a huge Romo fan, but sometimes I wonder if his play conditioned some fans to think playmaking QB's need to frequently turn the ball over or take stupid risks.

Dak is very much like Brady in that he makes smart, concise, non flashy decisions that keep moving the chains, and rarely makes mistakes.
Where is this idea coming form that Romo constantly threw the ball away? His last 2 healthy seasons he threw 65 touchdowns and had 19 total interceptions. If people are complaining about 3 to 1 TD to Int ratio they can pound sand for all I care. And if you go back to his last 4 healthy seasons (ignoring 2015 since he was never right) 3 of the 4 he had 10 or fewer Ints while throwing for 31 or more TDs in those low Int seasons.

I hate how short of a memory a lot of the fans on this site are.

I like Dak but let's not get carried away. He is playing game manager right now. Great line, great running back, make some short throws, pull it down and run. Mistake free football is a product of the system. See #9 in 2014, the first season he didn't have to carry the team with his arm.

Brady throws some picks pushing the ball downfield like Romo. Throw the Brady comparisons for Dak out. He is much more Wilson than Brady.

My fear for Dak remains:
3rd and 27 in Seattle in 2014, Romo buys time with his feet, makes defenders miss, throws a strike downfield to convert... idk if I believe Dak can consistently do that or if he could keep up in a shootout if the run game sputters. I just can't close my eyes and believe that Dak can win games with his arm if need be.

Wow so this amazing new QB who has led his team to 10-1 is just a game manager and product of the system ran here? The same system that produced 1 win without Romo last year?

Some of you are so in love with Romo that you are completely blinded by how awesome Dak is and what we are all witnessing right now.

This kid isn't a game manager, he is a freaking winner. We are set for a very long time at Qb and will surely see more than 2 playoff wins in over a decade like we got from our other Qb. Heck, Dak may lead his team to 2 playoff wins this year alone.

Yep. Dak has been nothing short of amazing and an absolute playmaker this season. He just isn't taking idiotic risks. Crazy concept, I know.

Lol. We must be one of the the only teams in NFL history to field an elite offense with nothing but a "game manager" at the helm. Linehan must be a Rainman-esque savant.

I never said dink and dunk was bad. Brady has proven that he can play many different styles. When he had 50 TD passes and Randy Moss, he was not exactly the same as he is now. Admittedly the deep pass he used to do well has left him in recent times. But he's proven over the years he can make all of the throws.
Dak is just a dink and dunk guy. Despite having more time to throw than any QB in the league, he never lets the deep routes develop, he just checks it down. He's a game manager... that doesn't mean that a half dozen times per game when they need him to make a key throw or run that he doesn't deliver. That's what Alex Smith has been doing for years. Alex Smith is working on 6 years in a row averaging less than 6 interceptions per season, but still making just enough plays to keep his team going. It's not hard to avoid mistakes if you never take chances.

We scored 27 points against the #1 defense when our run game wasn't working. And we scored 31 points against WAS and our run game was average. Whatever Dak is doing is scoring big points and winning us games and I hope he keeps doing it.

Except that Prescott isn't a dink-and-dunk QB. Of the league's top 10 passers, only two rely on YAC less than Dak.

Air Yards as a % of Total Passing Yards
(among top 10 rated passers)
Mariota 61.3
Cousins 59.2
Prescott 57.8
Wilson 55.9
Rthlsbgr 55.7
Ryan 54.2
Brees 54.0
Carr 52.1
Brady 48.5
Stafford 44.9

So a game manager leads the Cowboys from behind in the San Francisco, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh games? A game manager leads a team to a winning touchdown with 42 seconds left and the opponent knowing you have to throw the ball?

Consistency? Two questions:

1. How many times has Romo converted a 3rd and 27 in his career?
2. Didn't Dak buy time with his feet and complete passes in the Philly, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Washington games?

Maybe you need to keep your eyes open so you can see what Dak can do in the closing seconds when the game is on the line. He's already shown that he can. Just saying. ;)

I'm just trying to understand when did "dinking and dunking" become a bad thing? Isn't that what Joe Montana did?

When Dak succeeds, it's he has ALL the parts surrounding him to succeed.
When Romo fails, it's he DOESN'T HAVE all the parts surrounding him to succeed.

We had a 1st and 30, and we converted this season

1/5 of the line...Amazing the improvement the line made when 1/5 of the puzzle (Martin) was added to it.

It is significantly better IMO. It shows up on the field and it's pretty clear as day. Collins is young and has a lot to learn, and he flashes a lot, but also has a lot of mistakes. The line just simply plays much better as a unit when Leary is in there. It's all right there on film to see.

A QB can help, but that's not really what is happening. One of my biggest criticisms of Dak would actually be his pocket presence and movement. Maybe I'm spoiled from Romo, but Dak doesn't have near the feel in the pocket, and at times looks like a bit of a statue. Obviously, he can move, but at times he is pretty flat-footed and stationary. The protection has been great. And not from a lot of movement in the pocket, or great escapes, it's been simply great with a solid pocket without pressure.

I'll just disagree on Collins. From a physical standpoint I'll say he can be better, but he's a long way off from a mental standpoint. And the unit just works a lot better with Leary in there right now in both phases.
