His production is representative of a UDFA, not someone making $9M/year...

Next year will be his 6th season in the NFL. Over his first 5 years he has averaged:
  • 2.5 sacks per season
  • 15 tackles per season
  • 0.2 forced fumbles per season (exactly 1 in his entire career!)
  • 0.4 fumble recoveries per season (exactly 2 in his entire career)
Even if you adjust for his missing season, he's averaged just over 1 tackle per game in his career.

15 tackles per season? That's actually hard to do if you think about it for someone his size. If you're 275 pounds and aren't handicapped or anything you should be able to stubble into at least 25 tackles in a season with the amount of playing time he usually gets.

I liked the move at the time cause he did show something. High risk, high reward. It was a gamble and it didn't pay off.

It is hard to do, mostly because that is a completely fake stat. He is including a year where Crawford didn't start and another where he missed the year with injury. I can make any player look bad by faking statistics.

Hence, the last sentence in my post: "Even if you adjust for his missing season, he's averaged just over 1 tackle per game in his career."

He has played in 61 games and has 77 tackles... 1.26 tackles per game.

"Played In" means you are also including his rookie year where he played ST and didn't start.

The real stat is that he started 44 games in the last three years and had 99 tackles with 12.5 sacks. That's about what you would expect for an interior lineman, adding in the other two years is completely fake and you know it.
