Than the 4 game stretch that everyone was clamoring about meant nothing obviously.

Texas had the toughest stretch of games this year and lost on the last play of that stretch of games.

I just don't think OU is good enough to beat teams who play defense because OU's defense has always let them down.

Thats why I just don't get enamored with them running up the scores on teams when the most balanced team on both sides of the ball that they played this season beat them.

Its just a reoccuring pattern and blowing out less talented teams that don't spread the wealth to the defensive side of the ball just doesn't impress me.

Hank,

Do you believe if OU and Texas switched positions, that Texas would be playing for the National Title?

If Texas played the schedule they have now, but lost to OU, and we had the scenario we have now, no. Their schedule is too weak. OU didn't get in just because they are OU. OU is not a very liked program in this country.

You mention that four game stretch. Dude, they looked average for the final two of those. They almost lost AT HOME against Oklahoma St. OU beat them in their house while Texas lost to Tech.

This is a revolving door of fact and opinion.

Can we just agree to disagree? I am not doing a good job obviously because I have not made you budge one bit, nor have you made me budge.

Playing a tough stretch of games wouldn't have anything to do with making them look average would it?

OU didn't play so great the week after Texas beat them either.

I Think Texas couldve ran the table with ou schedule.

OU played nobody after Texas until the tech game and they got a home game and a 2 week bye to prepare.

College football teams rarely play the stretch of games Texas did and when they do they usually don't overcome it.

Had Texas won that game they would have been the first team in 70 years to win under the same circumstances.

1. Oklahoma 12-1 2. Florida 12-1 3. Texas 11-1 4. Alabama 12-1 5. USC 11-1 6. Utah 12-0 7. Texas Tech 11-1 8. Penn State 11-1 9. Boise State 12-010. Ohio State 10-211. TCU 10-212. Cincinnati 11-213. Oklahoma State 9-314. Georgia Tech 9-315. Georgia 9-316. BYU 10-217. Oregon 9-318. Michigan State 9-319. Virginia Tech 9-420. Pitt 9-321. Missouri 9-422. Ball State 12-123. Northwestern 9-324. Boston College 9-425. Mississippi 8-4

Losses: OU to #3 Texas. Texas to #7 Tech who has "lack of depth."

Quality wins:

UT - #1 Oklahoma by 10, #13 Oklahoma state in a struggle in Austin, #21 Missouri. Not one quality opponent in their non conference scedule.

OU - #7 Texas Tech by 44 points, #11 Texas Christian by I believe 25, #12 and Big East Champion Cincinnati, #13 Oklahoma State in Stillwater by 20, #21 and Big XII North Champion Missouri.

The conference title game is irrelevant to the earlier discussion of who deserved to goto the CCG, but it is part of OU's case as to why they are the hottest team in the country and deserve respect.

OU's resume is stronger.

Here's one reason why Texas got owned in S.O.S: 8/30 Florida Atlantic 1-0 (0-0) W 52-10 9/06 @ UTEP 2-0 (0-0) W 42-13 DATE OPPONENT TV TIME (ET) 9/13 Arkansas
POSTPONED DATE OPPONENT W-L (CONF) RESULT 9/20 Rice 3-0 (0-0) W 52-10 9/27 Arkansas 4-0 (0-0) W 52-10

I don't deny OU had tougher opponents because of the Cincy and TCU juggernauts.

Im just saying Texas had the tougher scheduling of games.

They played the 4 top Big 12 teams in a row starting with OU on a neutral field and finishing it with Tech on the road.

I wouldn't worry about it. I am an impartial observer in this race and I think I pretty much speak for most impartial observers when I say there just isn't much (if any) outrage over the fact that OU got the shot at the title instead of Texas.

Don't get me wrong - I am in favor of a college playoff system more than anyone (which TX should be a part of this year). But I am just saying that outside of Texas fans, there just isn't much (if any) sentiment that a gross injustice is being done beyond what cannot be avoided in this current BCS system.

Just earlier in this discussion you made sure to remind me that Mizzou sucks, yet you forget they are a part of that 4 game stretch of UT's.

Struggling in Austin against OSU didn't help as a part of that stretch. Then of course, the loss to Tech.

Ok, now I'm done.

You'd better back out of this debate before you're charged with assaulting an unarmed man in a battle of wits. :D
