This draft was always going to be a disappointment to many. You could see it leading up to the draft. People had identified holes at DT, TE, RB, LG, LB and wanted depth at WR and CB plus some wanted QB addressed.

There was just no possible way that the team was going to fix all of that with late round picks.

Right now Dallas probably has 2 day one starters and possibly 1 long term contributor after having used 3 picks. This isn't the end of the world.

Meat and Potatoes draft where the point of attack and stopping the run/running the ball seem to be the focal point.

If there’s one thing this organization has been the majority of the post Jimmy era it’s soft. I’m not saying this pivot McCarthy seems to be leading will work, but I definitely applaud them for switching gears and trying to be tough instead of flashy.

The identity of the team should be so and that’s the identity that wins in the playoffs. Not the get-pushed-around style we used to have. Did y’all not see a huge improvement on how our D played the Niners this year as opposed to last? We stuck right with them and if we take one more step in the toughness department then we’ll give them all they can handle.

Our competition is Philly and SanFran, both physical teams that can run and stop the run. We are trying to join them and I like that.

Also, Dak isn’t a high flying pretty play air raid QB. He’s a tough and resilient guy who can drive the bus well. When you try to make him a prolific passer you open yourself up for things to go wrong. With this new toughness approach, you let the identity of the QB and offense/team really gel and mirror eachother.

This is the biggest reason Moore is gone. The things he liked to do didn’t line up with how Mike felt this roster should be playing. He recognizes this isn’t Favre and ARod, he can’t win by throwing it all over the yard in shotgun. He needs defense and a running game so game scripts can keep us on schedule. Dak throwing 25-33 times as opposed to 40+ is what has given us the most success and we are diving head first into it. Love it!
….with only 1 legit WR, you open yourself up for things to go wrong.

This post is completely absurd, and written by somebody who doesn't recall the last 28 years of not making a semi final. You are simply buying what you are being sold. The worst kind of fan. What gives you so much confidence in the front office and Mike McCarthy? (who got fired after fizzling out while having a top 3 all time QB.)

There is zero excuse or good reasoning for drafting a 25 year old TE in round 2, and a LB who is good buddies with the owners grandson in round 3. This is not how real teams operate, loser behavior. Reaching for picks to try and matchup with other teams is loser behavior part 2.

So frustrating watching this team operate, and having to the listen to fans gargle it all down.

Are you an O’Cyrus expert? There were knowledgeable voices in CZ chat saying he wasn’t a great fit for us.
Well... the Bills took him the very next pick. The Bills FO is much smarter than Dallas'.

"Great fit" is a non sense argument. You take the best players available.

So you criticize a CZ member but use other CZ members to support your case about Torrence? That makes zero sense.

The fact is Dallas took what will be a 25 year old blocking TE in the 2nd round when they could have selected what some considered a 1st round talent 23 year old OG that gave up 0 sacks his entire college career.

Maybe if someone called the FO out, we wouldn't have dumped 2nd rounders into Bossman Phat, Trystan Hill, Randy Gregory, and Jaylon Smith among others.

If we didn't take the TE with our 2nd, we don't have a huge hole at the TE spot. Ferguson and Hendershot are still serviceable. We have a massive hole in the O-line spot that we would have filled by taking O'Cyrus. The gap between O'Cyrus and whoever our option would be at the O line is MUCH larger than the gap between Schoonmaker and Ferguson/Hendershot. How much better are we expecting Schoonmaker to be than Schultz was?
Spot on

Does a

I get the point if referring to Mazi, but a TE that is known as an ok blocker and a light note pants LB who used to be a safety and will likely be more of a nickel guy fit into this? Seems like a good idea, but I'm not so sure our picks today fit what you are looking for. I'm not saying they aren't going to be good players, I'm just wondering if your comments fit what we did
Overshown looks awesome.. I love that pick.

Watching Schoonmaker… Ehhhh.. I mean the guy looks solid as a rock but he’s a 25 year old playing against 19 and 20 year olds.

I guess what gives me hope there is he tested off the charts athletically.

But I just wish there was some evidence that he could do something after the catch.

This would be 'meat and potatoes' if we drafted O'Cyrus in the 2nd round.

This looks more like a bargain version of Philly's draft. If we actually do something in free agency to plug in the hole at runningback and O line, I guess I'll be happy, but if we go into the season like this, we have a huge problem on our hands.
I agree seems like we are playing in a division of DT greatness and we have done little to shore up our Oline, have no doubt that DT Philly drafted at pick 10 is a stud, much like Chase Young in talent but without the injury. Passing wins games and so far we have drafted a TE who is a great blocker. I do hope the DT Smith we drafted dovetails well with Quinn and his defensive plan, but no one gets a trophy just yet, looking forward to training camp. Will McClay gives me confidence that there is more to this draft than I have seen so far.

And people need to be realistic….we didn’t have premium picks. Eagles did. Had a top 10 pick so yes it’s going to look better than ours. All I ask is have a plan. If they have one I’m good. Cowboys are a good team. Not too many guys were going to come in and unseat our guys.

Witten did something after the catch, he hit the turf.

I do think Booger wanted Kincaid but I think McC is happy with a blocking TE and he will play a lot of 1-2 personnel.

I like what I see from Schoonmaker.

What I don’t like is it just feels like we were competing against ourselves for this player.

I wonder how high up we had him graded bs other TEs..
