I'm just trying to suppress my anger at the fact that instead of shoring up our O line and protecting our qb, we decide to grab a 25 year old blocking tight end.

Worst case scenario, they could always move him to T. He's a blocking TE anyway, which makes him an extra T.

Just like TJ Watt wasn't a 'great fit' for us
Much different.

Watts job is “get the quarterback”

Dallas’s offensive scheme is predicated on offensive lineman moving and getting to the second level. This is why Tyler Smith is such a good fit. If Torrence doesn’t pull well or get to the second level that eliminates tosses and runs to his side he needs to get there.

Torrence’s game is to maul people. He has cement shoes and doesn’t move well at all. He is a hell of a player and I loved watching him at Florida.

Sometimes it isn’t just “I like this guy! He’s better based on this scout”. It’s who fits the scheme better and helps us win.

I wanted Torrence as bad as anybody on this board yesterday and shared the utter disappointment of missing out.

But if you look at my previous post, I 100% believe that they are wanting to enter the year with

LT Tyron Smith
LG Tyler Smith
C Tyler Biadasz
RG Zack Martin
RT Terence Steele

So where we panicking about LG and RB they are comfortable with the group they have.

There are still some veterans out there.

OG Dalton Risner is out there, I believe, a four year starter for the Broncos.

The Cowboys could make a trade for a veteran RB. I'm sure quite a few current players just became expendable.

Even when the draft is over.........it's not over.

I'd love it if we got Risner. Plus, it's after the draft, especially after the comp pick deadline on 15 May, when the Cowboys become particularly active in FA. Risner would be a brilliant signing.

I hate to break the news to you, but known of those “knowledgeable voices” have ever worked in the NFL as a scout. NOT ONE!

Monday morning most will be back at the fry station at McDonalds.
You give scouts way too much credit.

You can go through drafts and look at all the moronic picks they’ve made and suddenly these expert opinions you put on such a high pedestal aren’t any better than the fry guys opinion.

He’s an athlete for sure and runs well.

He’s not a sluggish player out there.

I’d just like to see him catch the ball and look more impressive after the catch for being such a great athlete.

Fur sure, but, he's at least got good hands and a good blocking ability. He's probably more of a security blanket for Dak. I think we all knew Dak was going to get a security blanket at some point this draft.

So far, I don’t feel like we’ve gotten one ounce better. Not one. I’d be shocked if Mazi starts over Hankins and how do we play two fatties simultaneously when neither give you any pass rush?
And Schoon is a 3rd TE, nothing more. He may beat Hendershot out for #2 eventually but it won’t be immediately.
The LB/S…I like the player…maybe he works his way into some nickel or dime packages but there is currently no spot in the field where he could beat someone out for playing time. He will have to play STs to contribute in a meaningful way.

If Schoonmaker was 22 years old the pick would look differently to the board. I hate to say it but we wanted Kincaid. They adjusted the board and drafted Mazi. Hopefully it works out.

Who will be at McDonalds? The people paid (real money) to spend 40+ bourse a week digging for this

Or …

The dudes sitting i their “office” (best case) or maybe just on their phone checking some random videos or tweets and then coming back here as experts?

Well... the Bills took him the very next pick. The Bills FO is much smarter than Dallas'.

"Great fit" is a non sense argument. You take the best players available.
Umm, ok, if you say so;
Let’s check it up!. 2’25!

Meat and Potatoes draft where the point of attack and stopping the run/running the ball seem to be the focal point.

Our competition is Philly and SanFran, both physical teams that can run and stop the run. We are trying to join them and I like that.

This is the biggest reason Moore is gone. The things he liked to do didn’t line up with how Mike felt this roster should be playing. He recognizes this isn’t Favre and ARod, he can’t win by throwing it all over the yard in shotgun. He needs defense and a running game so game scripts can keep us on schedule. Dak throwing 25-33 times as opposed to 40+ is what has given us the most success and we are diving head first into it. Love it!

Does a

I get the point if referring to Mazi, but a TE that is known as an ok blocker and a light note pants LB who used to be a safety and will likely be more of a nickel guy fit into this? Seems like a good idea, but I'm not so sure our picks today fit what you are looking for. I'm not saying they aren't going to be good players, I'm just wondering if your comments fit what we did
You must not watch much Michigan football on Saturday's in the fall. McClay loves him some big nasties from Michigan.

Witten did something after the catch, he hit the turf.

I do think Booger wanted Kincaid but I think McC is happy with a blocking TE and he will play a lot of 1-2 personnel.
My thing is since when do you draft a blocking TE in the second round - you can get those later in the draft.

Even if you had to move up in the second - we need a G.

That lineup looks great on paper, but what happens when Tyron Smith gets hurt again?

Wasn't a huge fan of the TE selection I thought there were other guys that were more productive college players that offered more value at other positions. 3rd round pick was fine, it's hard picking at the end of the round when there's specific players you want that will go before the your next selection. However, I think there was opportunity to trade back and pickup extra picks, but perhaps the Cowboys saw some of the players they wanted go earlier and didn't want to risk it.

As fans we have to keep in mind we base most of our opinions on looking at online analysts ratings that try to quantify players and if some dude says they're the 70th best player and we draft them 10- 15 spots early we assume it's a bad pick. However, we probably don't understand the possible scheme fit, or how other teams see a player.
