MM also thought the Alex Smith pick was sexy as hell over Aaron Rogers.

Philly kicked our butts in the 1st round.
this looks like the most vanilla draft we could have had. The litmus test is when you see the "dont judge for 3 years" comments from the truly hopeful/desperate (althoughI havent seen 1 lets review our 2019 draft post yet)

Does a

I get the point if referring to Mazi, but a TE that is known as an ok blocker and a light note pants LB who used to be a safety and will likely be more of a nickel guy fit into this? Seems like a good idea, but I'm not so sure our picks today fit what you are looking for. I'm not saying they aren't going to be good players, I'm just wondering if your comments fit what we did
I’ve heard that Schoon is a great blocker (our TE coach said he’s the best in the draft at it). Also Overshown has great instincts and can fight through trash to get to the ball carrier. His only issue is weight honestly and he’s about 230. He’s not too far off from being average LB size which is 235-250.

But yes remains to be seen!

….with only 1 legit WR, you open yourself up for things to go wrong.
1 legit WR? Brandon Cooks career is identical to Amari stat wise, he’s a pro bowl caliber WR. What makes you think we only have 1 WR?

I assume you think Gallup won’t get back to form either?

Also this is a ridiculously weak WR draft. If you wanted a day one stud there this wasn’t the draft for that.

This post is completely absurd, and written by somebody who doesn't recall the last 28 years of not making a semi final. You are simply buying what you are being sold. The worst kind of fan. What gives you so much confidence in the front office and Mike McCarthy? (who got fired after fizzling out while having a top 3 all time QB.)

There is zero excuse or good reasoning for drafting a 25 year old TE in round 2, and a LB who is good buddies with the owners grandson in round 3. This is not how real teams operate, loser behavior. Reaching for picks to try and matchup with other teams is loser behavior part 2.

So frustrating watching this team operate, and having to the listen to fans gargle it all down.
What bro? This team is ran considerably better now than all those years ago lmao you can’t compare 2003 to now man it’s totally different the way the FO is run personnel wise.

What gives me confidence in our drafting? Oh I don’t know maybe our drafting success? So strange that you freaked out like this wow.

I bet you freaked out last year when we took Smith and Williams huh? By any objective measurement we have been one of the best drafting teams in the last 10 years. Why would I not have confidence in the draft when we’ve had better drafts than most of the league? We just went 12-5 and to back to back playoffs, why would I not have some faith in McCarthy?

There’s fans who are objective and fans who are emotional. You sir have PTSD from the post 90’s era. I get it man, but sheesh you are emotional. No reason to be that doubtful about a FO that has been a good drafting one.

So far, I don’t feel like we’ve gotten one ounce better. Not one. I’d be shocked if Mazi starts over Hankins and how do we play two fatties simultaneously when neither give you any pass rush?
And Schoon is a 3rd TE, nothing more. He may beat Hendershot out for #2 eventually but it won’t be immediately.
The LB/S…I like the player…maybe he works his way into some nickel or dime packages but there is currently no spot in the field where he could beat someone out for playing time. He will have to play STs to contribute in a meaningful way.
This sure sounds like a credible summary of how this year's rounds 1-3 draftees will be used and the lack of first year game day impact any of them will have.

Chill bro, I was talking about last year. Love Cooks and what he brings and I do think Gallup will be much better this year.

Sadly I think we all wanted at least one or two players who could come in and start immediately…esp from rounds 1-3

This would be 'meat and potatoes' if we drafted O'Cyrus in the 2nd round.

This looks more like a bargain version of Philly's draft. If we actually do something in free agency to plug in the hole at runningback and O line, I guess I'll be happy, but if we go into the season like this, we have a huge problem on our hands.
What about OL Risner he's out there still unsigned

Dont judge a draft until after 3 years is up goes, but on the surface I see none to very little improvement over last year's roster.
You say don't judge the draft till 3 years, and then proceed to judge the draft.

Meat and Potatoes draft where the point of attack and stopping the run/running the ball seem to be the focal point.

If there’s one thing this organization has been the majority of the post Jimmy era it’s soft. I’m not saying this pivot McCarthy seems to be leading will work, but I definitely applaud them for switching gears and trying to be tough instead of flashy.

The identity of the team should be so and that’s the identity that wins in the playoffs. Not the get-pushed-around style we used to have. Did y’all not see a huge improvement on how our D played the Niners this year as opposed to last? We stuck right with them and if we take one more step in the toughness department then we’ll give them all they can handle.

Our competition is Philly and SanFran, both physical teams that can run and stop the run. We are trying to join them and I like that.

Also, Dak isn’t a high flying pretty play air raid QB. He’s a tough and resilient guy who can drive the bus well. When you try to make him a prolific passer you open yourself up for things to go wrong. With this new toughness approach, you let the identity of the QB and offense/team really gel and mirror eachother.

This is the biggest reason Moore is gone. The things he liked to do didn’t line up with how Mike felt this roster should be playing. He recognizes this isn’t Favre and ARod, he can’t win by throwing it all over the yard in shotgun. He needs defense and a running game so game scripts can keep us on schedule. Dak throwing 25-33 times as opposed to 40+ is what has given us the most success and we are diving head first into it. Love it!
Dude, you are killing it !! Another great post.

was it sexy enough for McCarthy to take his shirt off rub butter on his chest and talk about Chickens like ReviewTechUSA?

You give scouts way too much credit.

You can go through drafts and look at all the moronic picks they’ve made and suddenly these expert opinions you put on such a high pedestal aren’t any better than the fry guys opinion.
Let’s compare “moronic picks” by the professionals to the keyboard pros. For whatever reason, I believe that the keyboarders will have a major failure rate over the pros.

Defensively a great draft but offensively the 1 pick could have been used on a guy that would make a bigger impact. Maybe he's the secret to fixing the run game, that is my hope or he's a wasted pick.

The problem is fans look at other teams' drafts and listen to ESPN and NFL Network's love fest and get jealous.

I've lived through enough drafts to know it will take a couple years before any grades should be handed out. Give Dallas' class a chance.

My problem with the draft that even if these players all pan out it’s hard to see this draft doing anything that gets us closer to a Super Bowl.
