Pretty please.

And then hope the Chargers don't trade the pick.

There's the issue for Dallas. If Wentz is in their sights and their guy, they'll have to do their best to convince the entire league they have no interest at all in taking a QB at 4. They have 2 weeks. Impossible? Maybe.

Or just hope that SD loves Ramsey enough to not trade out of the #3 pick.

I worry about Goff because I don't think he is a guy that will make a lot of plays outside of the scheme.

If we are committed to Garrett then we need a guy at QB that can create and imo Goff doesn't excel there.

Why should we be committed to Garrett?

And why should we compound that mistake by allowing it to influence our draft process?

Sound like two wrongs not making a right to me.

Whatever the name is...if it is Cleveland they will probably be the wrong name for that team.

Their last few years of first round picks, even when they have multiple first round picks, have been astoundingly bad.

Danny Shelton
Cameron Irving
Justin Gilbert
Johnny Manziel
Barkevious Mingo
Trent Richardson
Brandon Weeden
Phillip Taylor

Joe Haden ---last really good first round pick imo.

Now let's look at their QBs

Johnny Manziel
Brandon Weeden
Colt McCoy (to be fair a third rounder)
Brady Quinn
Charlie Frye (to be fair a third rounder)
Luke McKown (to be fair a fourth roundeer)

I think this an entirely different group drafting this year.

There have been through a great number of people over the years...and they still have sucked at drafting.

Haden, Thomas and Mack have been the lone first rounders that have been good since coming back into the league in 1999

If Wentz is our guy and sitting there at #3, I would hope Jerry will be on the phone with the Chargers to ensure nobody jumps us to get him.

If it is Goff then someone is trading into #3 to get Wentz.

So if the Ravens front office moved to Cleveland, they would all of a sudden start drafting crappy?

Not trying to be a smartarse here, but if entirely different people are drafting, how would that relate to people drafting in the past?

See Oakland lately as an example of a team that did a 180 in the area of drafting with a changing of the guard.

Goff's going to be the better player.

With all the uncertainty that comes with developing a franchise QB when you don't have one, take the guy with the fewest open questions. Every unknown with developing a QB is a potential to fail on a pick. Who care's how strong the arm is if the guy would only be able to get a job putting stars on Christmas trees if he weren't a good college QB?

My point being is that the Browns have been through various different groups of Head Coaches, Owners, Various Coaches, GMs and Scouts since they came back into the league in 1999.

Now maybe they finally hit a magical group of scouts, gms and coaches (not being a wise guy)...chances are they will be sucky again just as they have been since being back in the league.

Some of this league's greatest quarterbacks of all time are guys who weren't considered as having "the strongest arm". Joe Montana, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning are a few Hall of Famers that come to mind.

I've seen more rocket-armed quarterbacks bust than I ever have smart, accurate ones.

I think plenty of teams would take Goff over Wentz. Not Dallas, but many others. It says nothing bad about either player. just more of a preference.

This...and I would not be shocked at all if there are teams out there who would take Lynch over either of them...heck maybe even the Cowboys.

I trust Peter King's sources more than I do many other insiders. Besides, there's really no advantage to the Browns keeping things under wraps. Either a team is going to give up a ransom to the Titans for the No. 1 pick, either Cleveland moves up one spot for considerable less or Cleveland takes the quarterback who is left.

I know there's a lot of smoke being blown by a lot of front offices, but if Adam Schefter, Peter King or Jay Glazer share tidbits of information, I tend to give them more weight than other insiders.

I have no doubt they have the access but they are also the highest circulation and teams know that. There is no benefit to showing your hand two weeks before the draft but there are plenty of benefits for secrecy and misdirection. The cottage industry gets new material if they take it at face value though.

I put this report right there with Leon Lett breaking ranks a few weeks before the draft to tell us what we are doing with our first round selection.

He also showed his *** last year as another click mongering pseudo-journalist.

He used to be very in touch with the heartbeat of the league. He hasn't really been an "insider" in a decade though.

Also, the relative majority of these guys are relying on the same "sources" for their information. It's very common among journalists. I say that to further emphasize that I don't believe King is more privy than these other guys.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Funny you say that, it is my understanding the CLE front office just fired 6 scouts after they turned in their final draft reports.

It is true it is a new staff selecting players but they used the same scouts to do the work then axed them for good measure!

Only in CLE.....
