MNF - Detroit at Seattle

Should have been Detroit's ball at the one after the ball was intentionally batted out of the back of the endzone by Seattle. Ref's just said they blew the call.

Yeah when I watched it live I was thinking he can't bat the ball out of bounds like that. Then I figured they must have changed the rules because there's no way they could miss that.

Don't worry, Detroit. You'll get the standard league apology on Tuesday. Making it all better.

Seahawks get gift win....with another referring mistake. The NFL is a joke. Why didn't anyone catch this illegal batting of the ball out of the back of the endzone?

League is fixed.....Is there any doubt????:(

I was saying it as soon as I saw it ..........the refs even huddled up.......why didn't they review it since all turnovers are reviewed....

The should get everyone back on the field right now and fix this.

Refs blew the call...acknowledging it won't bring any solace to Caldwell and the Lions.

Dean Blandino up next explaining how it looked like he touched the ball......but really didn't. Big gust of wind...in that notorious Seattle rain.

What's the rule on this?

there were a couple Dez rule calls yesterday that were called catches even though the ball came loose.

one was a Maclin catch for KC.

So what would the ruling be if he batted it out?

Rule 12, Section 4.1. It is an illegal bat if:

b.any player bats or punches a loose ball (that has touched the ground) in any direction, if it is in either end zone

Since Seattle hadn't gained possession, I believe the flag gives Detroit the ball at the three inch line.

The Lions got majorly screwed. That is seriously one of the worst calls I've ever seen. You can't possibly miss that.

What's the rule on this?

The head of officiating said if the ball is intentionally batted out like it was, then the ball goes to the team that last had possession at the spot that they last had it... so it should have been Lion's ball at the 1 yd line.

Since it's a penalty, I'm presuming that this had to be called on the field, right (with a couple exceptions: 12 men on the field, batted ball on PI)? It couldn't have been reviewed?
