What’s amazing about Claiborne’s draft class is three (quarterback Robert Griffin III, running back Trent Richardson and wide receiver Justin Blackmon) of the five players taken before him in 2012 haven’t played a snap this season, and it’s possible none of them will, although Richardson, currently unemployed, worked out with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

That was taken from this article, which is a good read for the entire article. Some good stuff in it.
Feel free to post other stuff from it for other discussions too.

Pleasantly surprised with his play this season. I think he has probably his toughest matchup this season given the style of WR NE uses. Scandricks injury really hurts us this week.

LOL. He's figuring out about the time he should've. The guy has bee been hurt every year he's been in the league. This si the first year he's had a actual training camp. People wanted to ignore this as of it doesn't effect a young player but it does. Especially a cornerback. You don't just come in and light it up at cornerback. He's gotten it together in his contract year. That's perfect timing. Maybe not for us because we may can't trust him but some team will. I have a feeling the Buccaneers might like him.

If he can continue to play the rest of the year like he has been, why can't he be trusted, at least to be a decent player. So why would we not be interested in signing him to a 2 or 3 year deal. Especially with Scandrick out, and status unknown going into FA and draft next year. We will need a CB that knows the system too would be a plus. Then instead of looking at DB's in the draft, they can look at QB's and RB's.

Claiborne has played well this season.

We're getting a average to slightly above average play from him.

If you're injured....you have MORE time to study the game. No excuse.

Other young CBs do show flashes though in their first couple of years. Patrick Peterson wasn't a great CB in his first couple years but he showed his play making ability on several occasions as a punt returner (being a returner was on of Mo's attributes coming out of the draft) and on defense. Mo really showed nothing his first few years in the league. He is playing better now, but it could be a flash in the pan, who knows. We'll find out during the rest of this year and possibly in future years of we sign him

Claiborne is playing about the same as he was last year, only he isn't hurt yet.

as is normal maturation/growth/learning curve.

who coulda forecast a guy with single digit wonderlic might take a bit to learn?

i recall all the vitriol when dez didn't know the full playbook in year 2.
people shut up when he was all pro.

and murray also did well "in a contract year" and how has that turned out for either side? im always hesitant to shower someone with BIG MONEY for putting in a good year in their final opportunity before said contract. if he signs for "fair market value" then i'm good to keep him around, no issue. if he feels he had a top 5 year for some reason, or even top 10, and wants that kinda money, i'd have a hard time doing it.

I suppose that comes down to how much stock one puts into wonderlic. its clear the injuries held him back, missing off seasons etc. As talented as he may be, he doesnt have the freak skill dez does, then again most NFL players do not. I also dont think its a shock to see the little extra boost during a contract year, moneys a heck of a motivator.

I think Mo's motivation is to show he is not a bust, and can play in the league at a higher level. The money is a side benefit if he does well. Not do a Murray, have a contract year, get a big contract then not perform. As I said, I think it is to prove he is a good player. Mo may not get a block buster deal, but he may get a decent one if all continues well.

Hopefully he can help his case by making some plays. He's had some opportunities, just needs to finish. This sunday would be a great time to do so. Im rooting for the guy.
