and murray also did well "in a contract year" and how has that turned out for either side? im always hesitant to shower someone with BIG MONEY for putting in a good year in their final opportunity before said contract. if he signs for "fair market value" then i'm good to keep him around, no issue. if he feels he had a top 5 year for some reason, or even top 10, and wants that kinda money, i'd have a hard time doing it.

:hammer:

Im sorry but I havent realized MO was playing all that much this season (which is a good thing which means he has his man taken care of and more importantly he isnt getting flagged every down!!)

Foind this interesting

What’s amazing about Claiborne’s draft class is three (quarterback Robert Griffin III, running back Trent Richardson and wide receiver Justin Blackmon) of the five players taken before him in 2012 haven’t played a snap this season, and it’s possible none of them will, although Richardson, currently unemployed, worked out with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

I am not sold on him. He still cant tackle either. Needs to stay healthy and keep it up.

I'm psyched to see we're finally getting legit 3rd round value! Oh wait.

We gave up a 1st and 2nd for him.

Water under the bridge. Just ball out going forward, it's all we can hope for.

Claiborne is playing alright, nothing special. This is as good as it's gonna get with him IMO. He'll never be a star or a top CB but he is a starter in this league. CB is one of the hardest positions to hit on in the draft IMO. Most of them don't end up playing up to their potential

If he can continue to play the rest of the year like he has been, why can't he be trusted, at least to be a decent player. So why would we not be interested in signing him to a 2 or 3 year deal. Especially with Scandrick out, and status unknown going into FA and draft next year. We will need a CB that knows the system too would be a plus. Then instead of looking at DB's in the draft, they can look at QB's and RB's.

It's not my money but I don't know where the Cowboys stand on Mo. I think they'd want him back for a decent deal but I think Mo may command more than that if he keeps this up.

He's played like a top corner thus far.

Studying the game is not the whole battle. That's half of it. You still need in field work especially at corner.

oh, so when Mo says his issue was he was studying tape wrong, then I shouldnt believe him. makes sense.

I never understood all the Mo hate. He was injured, and it is EXTREMELY difficult to play corner in a league that now favors offensives and throws a flag if the defensive back so much as sneezes on the wide receiver.

Yes you shouldn't. There are plenty of people who were 1st round picks who can't play in the NFL who study game film. How do you think rookies get better? How did Dez go from what he was his rookie year to now? Has nothing to do with playing great cornerbacks week in and out?

Yeah, I think because he was a first rd draft pic and what was given up to get him, they want to keep him. Baseball term, kind of a home grown product

I agree with that but at the same time I think the fact that he was a top 10 pick and he's starting to finally turn the corner is intriguing to a team with money to spend. If Byron Maxwell got what he got...i'm just saying I wouldn't be shocked to see us having to bid for Mo's services.

Claiborne has played well this season.

We're getting a average to slightly above average play from him.

I love the backhanded compliments you people give Mo.

He's doing better than "average" or even "above average". That describes Scandrick, not Mo's performance this year.

They don't want to be wrong so of course they will minimize his play

I'm sorry, am I missing something? Did I miss that Mo is playing at an All-Pro level or something?

I think folks are confusing competent CB play (Mo) with top echelon CB play because it's been so long since the Cowboys have had even an average CB1/CB2. Not I am not counting Scandrick in that because I've considered him one of the top 2-3 CB3s in the league.
