Mo Claiborne

No way on a second contract. Franchise him next year and then let him walk.

Negative. Sign him now, before he gets too expensive. You don't franchise him, it's 13.95 million. He isn't worth quite that much (injury history, inconsistent play prior to last season). We can get him at around 7-8 million aav over 4-5 years. That's nearly two years of your franchise tag right there.

And miss me with that "release him" garbage. He's been a top 10-12 CB. You don't release that kind of player, that's an incredible risk. Anthony Brown has been awesome, but not Mo Clai awesome. Mo has stabilized the secondary (along with Byron).

I just watched that play over and over and for the life of me, I can't see how that wasn't intentional unless he had his eyes closed for the last 1.5 seconds.

I really find it hard to believe as Lee isn't that kind of guy but he led with the helmet, which is against the rules. Had the receiver been there, Lee would have hit him in the head with the helmet as well. That would have drawn a personal foul penalty.

Idk, to me it looked like Lee was going full steam - no way he could let up at the end. On a side note, Rodgers reaction to that was priceless "OH DAMN"

I need Mo back on the field immediately. His presence knocks #38 down another notch and keeps him out of the defensive sets. Thereby keeping my heart rate as calm as it has been since Dak took over.

& I know who he is. I refuse to use his name because he's just a number out there that makes my nerves bad.

Am I the only one who doesn't worry much about Heath being in there? He's a good backup, and a smart player.

Not a chance. He's played 6 good games in his 3.5 season career and is extremely injury prone. That is exactly the profile of a guy you let be somebody else's problem.

He's played 6 great games this season, here (well, 5 1/2) and 11 solid solid games last season. You don't franchise him, that's an overpayment (we need that money to attack other positions in free agency). 13.95 is too much for him, Any way you cut it.

You're gonna be a mad dude when he is re-signed. :)

The 14 mil GUATANTEED franchise tag would cover practically all of the guaranteed money in a 4 year deal.

NO WAY.

Not as expensive as signing him to a long term contract his talent doesn't match. And all cowboys fans should be mad if the FO goes back to being ******** like they were 2000-2010. Unless they just like losing or something. In no way am I interested in year 6, 7, and 8 of this underachiever. Anybody that is needs a CAT scan.

His talent doesn't match? At 7-8 AAV?

If you think he's signing for less than 14 g'teed long term, I don't know what to tell you. You're also not factoring in his injury proneness when assessing the short versus long term risk and value.

One year is far less risk. This season is the outlier, and you don't commit to those. MCs agent is dying for the Cowboys to knee jerk and overcommit to this guy like they did on draft day. The smart man doesn't repeat clear mistakes.

Nope. Nope to all of that.

And @rd26 didn't say "less than 14 guar" so quote him right. And we are factoring his propensity to injury, hence the low AAV for such a premium position. Take dem goggles off.

This season isn't an outlier, he played very well last season, too.

@DenCWBY you think Clai should be released/franchised? I saw you 'like' dude's post.

Just curious.

I often 'like' posts just for the hell of it, perhaps you did the same? But I toss them around like candy...

Mo likes to bet on himself. Maybe we can get a 3 year deal with him with around 15 mill guaranteed, and leave ourselves an option to restructure or add two years to the deal if he is still balling after year two.

It depends on what he'll demand in the new contract vs. the franchise tag. He's finally coming around to earning his keep and that's great but I don't trust his longevity on the field to hook him up for 4 or 5 more years. Just sayin there's a lot of if's between now and the end of the year. It will be interesting.

I'll use a very generous comp here. Aquib Talib signed for 6 yrs / 57 mil (9.5 per).

11.5 mil was fully and initially guaranteed.

The other 14 mil "guaranteed" money was only guaranteed if...........

Wait for it........

He was still on the roster years 2 and 3.

If they ditched him after one season it cost a total of 11.5 mil. Or they had his rights for 5 more seasons if they wanted him.

Do a Sean Lee type contract, one that protects the team if he is injured.

So you think that...giving up a 1st and a 2nd for Mo, paying top of the draft money for Mo, investing 5 years of development and training into Mo, then giving top 10 of all CB in football franchise money to Mo that we should then let Mo go off to another team in his prime years....is a smart thing to do?

I....do not.
