Now with our new DC and most of his staff in place, we have a better idea of possible fa/draft targets. Also, hearing that the Cowboys will be active in fa this offseason, doesn't mean they are going to be huge spenders, but more active then they have been in the past.

In House Fa's

Resigned-Javonte Williams, Pickens (Tag and extension), Clowney, Fowler, Adneji,Bass, Hoffman, Audrey
Cap Casualties-Steele, Logan Wilson, Hooker
Contract restructures-Dak, Lamb, Tyler Smith, Kenny Clark (extension), Q. Williams

Free Agency-solid veterans won't break the bank

LB-Alex Singleton Denver (has played for both Philly and Denver, knows the scheme)
S-Jalen Thompson Arizona (played under our new DB coach, is a versatile safety, even with slot experience)
CB-Adoree Jackson (a veteran piece that played under Parker with Philly)
S-Blankenship (same as Jackson)

Draft (Pro Football Network Sim-4 rd's)

12-McCoy CB Tenn (Could see either him or Delane here. Unless Downs, Bailey, Bain fall)
20-Traded to the Steelers for Nick Herbig Edge for pick 53 (2nd rd), pick 104 (3rd rd)
53-Jacob Rodriguez LB Texas Tech
104-Nicohlas Singleton RB Penn State
112-Harold Perkins Jr LB/Edge LSU

If we are trading day 2 value for Herbig, I usually prefer 12 for 21 but this is a great haul here. Rodriguez comes in and impacts day 1 and Singleton can be a featured back

Think adding solid veteran starters that know the scheme is the direction they should take this offseason. None will break the bank and serve as bridge starters until their long-term replacements can be found. None of these signings prevent the team from drafting those positions.

I wanted to secure one of the top two corners in the draft which is why I chose to deal pick 20.

Im glad you got McCoy. I do like Delane but his 2024 tape scares me. I do think Delane might be the best outside/slot combo CB in the draft though.

Nice effort. I like Rodriguez.

Starting defense:

OLB Overshown, Rodruquez
OLB Ezeirauku
MLB Singleton
DT Clark
DT Williams
DT Odighizuwa
CB Bland
CB Revel
CB Jackson, McCoy
S Blankenship
S Thompson
You forgot Herbig

I actually prefer Rodriguez at Mike. He plays both, but I think people were projecting him as a Will because they expected him to be small. I think his SB measurements changed that a bit. He is still a little light at Mike, but we have a strong interior DL now

He is going to be on their radar, but I think one corner goes ahead of us
I think if two go, Downs could fall.

One thing to watch with both McCoy and Delane is that neither are expected to blow the combine up. Both (even without McCoy's injury) where expected to be pretty average testing for there position. Will be interesting if thats the case and if that stunts a rise in draft stock

Id also like to add a guy somewhere that can play 5T and 7T somewhere. If we are running a hybrid, having a guy like that adds to flexibility. I do think you can make Thomas into that type of player

Size was my concern but if you're right he could do well there.

You are taking some serious risks in free agency and in the draft. Just goes to show the mistakes are front office has made over the years. Top 3 corners would be coming off ACL or foot injuries. The 4th corner is the player every team targeted vs the Eagles. Who did you pass on at 20 for Herbig? I will admit could see the Joneses doing this unfortunately.

Remember Parker said he isn’t all about athletic traits but rather if a player can play at a high level

You can find that type of player on day 3, one who can hold the point of attack and be a good, rotating run defender

From what I understand, McCoy is very athletic and should test very well. Is that not accurate?

Jackson is just a veteran depth piece, he would be more of our 4th corner who helps with the scheme transition.

At 20, there is wasn’t a blinking light player who fell.

I think adding Singleton gives a player like Rodriguez a veteran to learn from. Also, you never know about Overshown’s health, gives us flexibility at the position
