Is there anyway that after a loss we can put a 24 hour lockdown on this place? That way people can calm down and come to their senses before posting stuff like "Elam should start ahead of Roy" and all kinds of other crazy, out-of-your-mind kind of stuff.. It would be like that rule where you have to wait 24 hours before buying a gun..

I love this place, it's my absolute favorite website.. but some of these posts make me think that the cast of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest now have access to the internet and like to spend their free time on Dallas Cowboys message boards..

Come on... being upset is normal... its passion... should everyone be like Mr. Spock with its "logical" posts.... sometimes you gotta vent.... sometimes you gotta post your opinion.... sometimes you just gotta post for the sake of posting.... we have all done it..

Yes - you're right ...after setting up the winning FG on a Beauty pass from our new Favorite Cowboy w/ 10 secs left to have it blocked...run back plus 15 yds tacked on...and to lose in the most unimaginable fashion...we should all remain calm and open up a new container of BerryCherry Kool Aid...
Yep b/c nothing is wrong with an incredulous loss of that magnitude.

Although I sympathize with ya there's one good way to weed out the outlandish posts ... and that's to stop responding to them. It never ceases to amaze me how someone will make what I consider to be a BS thread and then 24 hours later it's still going strong with a 20 page post count.

Meanwhile some poor schlub makes a great post right under the 20 pager and it only gets a couple of replies because everyone's so busy telling the starter of the other thread what an idiot he is.

Everyone here knows what I'm talking about and it really takes the wind out of your sails when you are the starter of that second thread that was ignored. It frustrates me to the point where I take long layoffs into lurker status from time to time as a result.

Great point. The problem with that is that people will react more readily to outrageous and angry posts than to balanced and thoughtful responses. We should also remember that people do use this forum to vent their spleen. I'm a firm believer that nothing is quite as bad or as good as it originally seems, so I don't get too wild when things go bad or when they go well. I watch a game to be entertained. If my team loses, then I'm dissapointed, not outraged. If my team wins, I feel good about the result, but I don't get into the trash talk. Neither my self esteem nor my loyalty rest on wins and losses. For other folks, the season is an emotional roller coaster. I can empathize with them to a point, but I won't tear out what little hair I have left for the sake of a football game.

Keep in mind that I will read a good post and not necessarily respond. It doesn't mean the point was not heard.
