Is there anyway that after a loss we can put a 24 hour lockdown on this place? That way people can calm down and come to their senses before posting stuff like "Elam should start ahead of Roy" and all kinds of other crazy, out-of-your-mind kind of stuff.. It would be like that rule where you have to wait 24 hours before buying a gun..

I love this place, it's my absolute favorite website.. but some of these posts make me think that the cast of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest now have access to the internet and like to spend their free time on Dallas Cowboys message boards..

This may sound simplistic but maybe you could simply not come here for 48 hours after a loss so you wouldn't have to see all those posts. Usually by the 2nd day they have calmed down and more reasonable posting occurs.

Just sayin zall.

Great point. The problem with that is that people will react more readily to outrageous and angry posts than to balanced and thoughtful responses. We should also remember that people do use this forum to vent their spleen. I'm a firm believer that nothing is quite as bad or as good as it originally seems, so I don't get too wild when things go bad or when they go well. I watch a game to be entertained. If my team loses, then I'm dissapointed, not outraged. If my team wins, I feel good about the result, but I don't get into the trash talk. Neither my self esteem nor my loyalty rest on wins and losses. For other folks, the season is an emotional roller coaster. I can empathize with them to a point, but I won't tear out what little hair I have left for the sake of a football game.

Keep in mind that I will read a good post and not necessarily respond. It doesn't mean the point was not heard.

Good post. I guess it is somewhat of a utopian outlook for me to think people will just stop responding to outrageous posts and only pay attention to the more substantive threads. Thats goes against human nature.

But we can dream ...

I think censoring the boards for 24 hours would be a terrible idea.

Generally speaking, you can tell how ridiculous a post is going to be, by either looking at the title and/or the thread starter.

Besides, I consider forums an extension of the local radio down here, it is going to be entertaining win or lose on Monday.

Please no censorship..thank you very much.

My name is Mickgreen58 and I approve of this message :p: .

Your point is funny and well-taken...however, I think this team is way past the time to "calm down"...I think coaches, players, and fans should be doing a little yelling and "calling out"....there's not much time left for this team to get its act together and show it can win a game that matters and string some wins together...right now we are still a team always struggling to stay above .500.

This is if not the most then the second most important purpose of this website. It allows Cowboys fandom to collectively get over a loss by venting and supporting each other! Simple question: Why have a website if you can't post?

Although I sympathize with ya there's one good way to weed out the outlandish posts ... and that's to stop responding to them. It never ceases to amaze me how someone will make what I consider to be a BS thread and then 24 hours later it's still going strong with a 20 page post count.

Meanwhile some poor schlub makes a great post right under the 20 pager and it only gets a couple of replies because everyone's so busy telling the starter of the other thread what an idiot he is.

Everyone here knows what I'm talking about and it really takes the wind out of your sails when you are the starter of that second thread that was ignored. It frustrates me to the point where I take long layoffs into lurker status from time to time as a result.
I wish I had this kind of will power Screw. I really do.

Banishing people for stupidity is like banishing politicians for infidelity. Either way, it'd be a ghost town.

I take offense. I'm the Ebenezer Scrooge of this board, not Kelly Bundy. Plus, my legs are better than Kelly's.

So anyone who has an opinion that you don't like shouldn't be allowed to voice said opinion. So much for free speech, thought control.

For the record, Roy Williams has blown several coverages this season.

Obviously, other people didn't consider it to be a "BS thread" if they are still posting on it after 24 hours and it's count is still growing strong. Believe it or not everyone doesn't share YOUR opinion all the time. I like this board but so many people here seem to think that their opinion on things is fact: irrefutable and that it's unfathomable that anyone else would have a differing viewpoint. Then you have the good ol' boy network (mods) functioning somewhat like the Gestappo at times...sometimes it tempts me to look elsewhere for some good Dallas Cowboy conversation.

And how, praytell, will you determine who loses thread starting abilities 24 hours after games. If you weren't being sarcastic and you were serious your suggestion is ludicrous at best.
