Is there anyway that after a loss we can put a 24 hour lockdown on this place? That way people can calm down and come to their senses before posting stuff like "Elam should start ahead of Roy" and all kinds of other crazy, out-of-your-mind kind of stuff.. It would be like that rule where you have to wait 24 hours before buying a gun..

I love this place, it's my absolute favorite website.. but some of these posts make me think that the cast of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest now have access to the internet and like to spend their free time on Dallas Cowboys message boards..

Obviously, other people didn't consider it to be a "BS thread" if they are still posting on it after 24 hours and it's count is still growing strong. Believe it or not everyone doesn't share YOUR opinion all the time. I like this board but so many people here seem to think that their opinion on things is fact: irrefutable and that it's unfathomable that anyone else would have a differing viewpoint. Then you have the good ol' boy network (mods) functioning somewhat like the Gestappo at times...sometimes it tempts me to look elsewhere for some good Dallas Cowboy conversation.

Alot of people consider the hypothetical thread in question BS also ... wanna know how I know? Because the entire thread is made up of nothing but people calling the thread starter an idiot. Perhaps you missed the point of my post which was this ... If you see a thread you don't like instead of pounding the person senseless who made it and increasing the post count in that thread thereby making it relevant, perhaps it would be a better tactic to move on to another thread that you think is engaging in a constructive conversation that actually interests you.

As for needing everyone to share my opinion again you whiff on the point of my post. I don't need or want everyone to share my opinion that would begin to get mundane and pointless very quickly. But there's a helluva difference in a 20 page post made up of nothing but adolescent bickering and a constructive debate between two informed fans of the same football team.

The fact is the loudest and most abnoxious posters often times generate more fanfare than they deserve because of how over the top they are. Often times they do it on purpose and people take the bait. In fact people almost always feel the need to respond to these lowest common denominator of threads. I was simply pointing out another option.

It's not hard to tell. Some people shouldn't be allowed to make threads. Ever.

Good post. I guess it is somewhat of a utopian outlook for me to think people will just stop responding to outrageous posts and only pay attention to the more substantive threads. Thats goes against human nature.

But we can dream ...

I really make an effort to respond to the substantive threads, even if just to chime in that it was thoughtful or reasonable.

There's always room for improvement tho...like taking the time to read them thru thoroughly and actually making a response that shows respect for the time it took to write them.

But don't go into lurk mode if your thread is not getting proper attention..just add the tried and true "Quincy was better" or 'look what TO did now" to the title.

Better yet make the title as cyptic and unrevealing as possible..like "Did you ever notice...?" or "Is it just me?" or "As I pat myself on the back"...as much as I dislike thread titles that tell you nothing about the content, I find myself opening them out of morbid curiosity.

My periodic frustration stems as much from my inability to type as anything else. I have to be beyond the shadow of a doubt the slowest typist in the history of messageboard posters. But hey I guess it's good to be the best at something right?
