Why would you want Marinelli in charge - when Kiffin is the Master who taught Marinelli about football?

in this case, I think Marinelli has outgrown his master, I think he knows how to motivate these guys, I personally think Rod can make more with less, and to see how he operated with so little and still did very well at least justifies giving him a shot.

Now the questions become will Rod make the changes the defense needs, rotation and get depth on the team? If he can do all that and soldify that line, than he was worth the risk , even if it is he who wants Kiffen to hang around.

All this is opinion tho.

How do you think he is able to motivate more than the guy who invented the Tampa 2 and was the architect of those dominant Bucs defenses in the 2000s?

After losing the Defensive Coordinator title he is now the Assistant Head Coach of Defense. What does that even mean haha :D

It means he's still doing what he was brought here to do which is re establish the 4-3 defense because only a bad arm chair gm would decide to get rid of him after one year.

Yet, he did get rid of him, didn't he....

He called good enough games against the eagles to secure another year just for those two games. If they wanted to get rid of him I think they woulda let him go. Didn't he have other offers anyway?

are you trying to say Rod cant motivate? or somehow Kiffen is a world class motivator?

It probably means the same thing Jason Garrett's "Assistant Head Coach" title meant when we retained him after he was flirting with the Ravens and Falcons - nothing. Just a way to keep guys happy.

No - but wouldn't a Master Inventor of a scheme be more motivational then his pupil?

no, if someone has taken your game and went further, so be it. It happens, Happens everyday. I think Rod can get more out of our guys on the DL than Kiffen can. Maybe Kiffen knows the terminology or how to do other things better than Rod, but right now, I believe Rod can get more out of the defense and turn it around to do what it should have been doing.

He [Kiffin] called good enough games against the eagles to secure another year just for those two games.
Yet, management decided to fire him from his position and put him out to pasture.

If they wanted to get rid of him [Kiffin] I think they woulda let him go..
He is still under contract, so Jerry kept him on to lurk around his mentee. Jerry is a lurker himself, so this makes sense from a management perspective.

Didn't he [Kiffin] have other offers anyway?.
I think that you are thinking of Callahan? He is a dysfunctional retention of a different circumstance, someone who might have value for another team, but who is being kept on in reduced capacity for perhaps spite or scapegoating but most likely, for his competence as a now disgruntaled position coach.

It's not a situation the Cowboys can win in anyway, if they don't make changes it's because they just aren't smart enough to see and address the problem because no one is held accountable and if they do make changes they've treated the person badly and reluctantly admitted another mistake. It seems obvious to me that they're keeping Callahan complete the O-line rebuild and Kiffin to complete the 4-3 transition.

What in your opinion makes Rod better than Monte?
