Dallas would have beat 49er’s if Kellen suited up and benched Dak? Believe so…

Both succeeded in the regular season.
Both were inconsistent, but managed a 12-5 season.
Roll it back in the playoffs.
Inconsistency and a 1-1 record Because we got amazing Dak one week and bad decision Dak the next week. Great play-calling Moore one week and WTH was that Moore the next week.

Fans will blame one or the other to fit their agendas. We’ve already seen those who hate Dak use Moore leaving to further that and vice versa. It’s hypocritical.

Fact…..most fans on this forum, including those who love Dak and hate him, have wanted to get rid of Moore for a long time. He doesn’t understand or value the run game. He calls the most bizarre plays at the most frustrating moments. He doesn’t adopt and implement what other teams are doing successfully in the NFL today. Despite his inconsistencies and lack of answers vs really good defenses, he has produced successful offenses in the regular season that seem to always fail, regardless of the QB play against the best opponents and coaches In the playoffs. Most fans have said every year that they don’t care about regular season stats or even wins until it manifests in the playoffs. Moore failed.

My opinion…..Dak has played most of his career as an above average QB who reads defenses well and is capable of great performances when he has a little run game and weapons. He has, like Romo, often seemed at his best in the hurry up offense, when he is running plays he trusts and that play to his strengths. That’s why, until this season, most NFL experts and former players have consistently rated him as top half of NFL QBs (despite the ”experts” on this forum). Most agree that he has been a franchise QB.

Fact…..most NFL experts and former players never saw Dak as one of the elite (5-6) QBs in the NFL. A few at times thought he was approaching the upper tier, but never to be mentioned with Brady, Mahommes, Rodgers, Burrows.

Fact…..for whatever reason you want to put forth to fit your biased narrative, Dak had the most inconsistent year of his career. It’s hard to imagine that any QB could have games like he produced against Minnesota and Tampa Bay (playoffs) in the same season where he was making mental judgment errors that you would hope a rookie could curtail Down the stretch. For a QB who was sometimes asked to throw the ball over 40 times, interceptions were never an issue for Dak until this season. Overall, Dak‘s inconsistency and turnovers rate him a season grade of D from me.

I hope and trust that next season he will be the QB we saw in the previous 6 years in regards to decision making and avoiding interceptions.

This was a bad season from Dak, his worst ever.
This was essentially more of the same from Kellen Moore, inconsistent. One week we are asking if he finally gets it after a great game, and the next week asking if he will ever get it.

Nailed it. I appreciate an unbiased take, and agree on all points.

it was both. We need 1 voice as the OC and that guy needs to be able to reign Dak in.

Dak will handicap any OC’s play calling.
I can't agree with that, Dak just needs a more west coast dialed downed and simplified route scheme, this offense needs to be dialed back to accommodate Dak, and Dak needs to come to the understanding that he can be a bus driver and the right OC can deliver that scheme, Moore was way too far intelligent on the other end of the spectrum, and failed at providing the appropriate dialed down game plan.
The upside is that we do not have to invest in top targets offensively, just playmakers that can turn dumpoffs up field effectively, and build this OL and DL and this team has the
pieces in place now, just need a few more and some better coaching.
Strong in the trenches and a solid pass rush, let's go draft a stud at RB, solidify this OL and if Dak can take the superman cape off and actually realize who he really is then this team can be a strong contender next season.

I'm still waiting for someone to analyze the last play against SF this year and the last play against SF last year. Both were simply pathetic. I'd like to know if those two stupid plays are in the playbook? And I'm only partially kidding
sure they are and mm approved both of them and he is the new OC playcaller lol

He read the coverage correctly ahead of time. Fred Warner was covering Lamb on the play. That should be a win almost every time. By the time he threw it Hilton unfortunately was wide open……
Agreed. Dak made the right read. The MLB covering man on with your #1 receiver is where you want to go with the ball. Fred Warner is an all world athlete and made a helluva play. It had to be bang bang play with SF pressure already on him. Dak didn’t play well that night but this dude is nitpicking on one play where he actually made the right read…

there was also a safety on top on that side of the field, so not the throw to make.no safety on the left so throw to that side.

Hilton is just at the level of the DB playing in off-coverage.
- There is a Safety behind that DB.
- The read progression for Dak is right to left.
- The pass rusher got to Dak immediately after he released the pass.
- i.e. There was not any more time to progress to the point at which Hilton cleared the initial DB.

Receivers are only open if they get open at the correct time.

3 ex NFL QBs have already analyzed this play and didn't have an issue with Dak not throwing to Hilton.
When Kurt Warner analyzed this play he said the LBer Warner was the read. When Warner took off with Lamb, Prescott was supposed to eliminated him from the play. But he forced it instead. I remember watching the game live and immediately saying he should have thrown it to Hilton. But I was on my couch having a beer with no LBer bearing down on me so what do I know.

We've got a couple of people in here trying to claim Dak made the right read when another receiver was wide open for a TD. Takes all kinds I guess....

Maybe his April “best shape of life” tweet ought to include him in front of some film.

I still think firing Moore was the wrong move. I don't think McCarthy has it in him to multi-task and stay on top of everything.

He can't even have the punt team ready when he's going to punt. Why on Earth do we think he can call plays, coordinate the offense, and coach this team?
