Well next year we'll see if Dak failed Moore or if Moore failed Dak. Personally I feel there's blame on both sides. I bet Dak will be a backup QB somewhere in 3 season and within 3 seasons Moore will be out of the NFL.

I still think firing Moore was the wrong move. I don't think McCarthy has it in him to multi-task and stay on top of everything.

He can't even have the punt team ready when he's going to punt. Why on Earth do we think he can call plays, coordinate the offense, and coach this team?
Did he call the plays in his Superbowl victory? If so I say he has the skills

I think the OC is responsible for putting together the game plan with input from HC and QB; the QB is responsible for executing the game plan at a high level. The success or failure should be borne by all.

I'm still waiting for someone to analyze the last play against SF this year and the last play against SF last year. Both were simply pathetic. I'd like to know if those two stupid plays are in the playbook? And I'm only partially kidding
The last play of the game, even if traditional, has an extremely low chance of being successful. It's a whatever play and I am surprised people even think about it - game was over essentially.

3 ex NFL QBs have already analyzed this play and didn't have an issue with Dak not throwing to Hilton.
Not really true, bro.

QB School (JT Sullivan) also noted the wide open middle on that play. His focus was on Ceedee Lamb not looking back, but he said, "it can be all these things" (multiple opportunities missed)

Sullivan has criticized Dak for lack of anticipation, failure of pre-snap reads, getting panicky, poor footwork, inconsistent accuracy, slow foot speed and being late getting the ball out. Link:

Sullivan also criticized Gallup and Lamb and OC play design in a couple of instances.

You wanna talk Kurt Warner's breakdowns?

Moore has a better chance of coaching Herbert to an AFC Championship game than Dakota getting us to an NFC Championship game….just wait and watch
I wouldn’t bet on it with the caliber of teams in the AFC. Any team that blows a 27 point lead in a playoff game has some issues, especially against a team like Jacksonville that still has a ways to go.

I disagree. Clearly when it matters the Dak/Moore combo wasn't working. We're contractually stuck with Dak so the change had to come somewhere else.... which means the OC. Moore made his own play-calling blunders against the 49ers and it wasn't the first playoff game he did it.

Yes, Dak stunk it up and will likely never get us to a SB win, but it's clear Dak/Moore wasn't working....so the option was keep Dak/Moore and see guaranteed failure or roll the dice with a new play-caller and hope..just hope Dak doesn't choke.

I think its more a case of we can't get rid of the QB so the only option for shaking things up is changing the OC.

Pause the video at 1:54

Hilton is just at the level of the DB playing in off-coverage.
- There is a Safety behind that DB.
- The read progression for Dak is right to left.
- The pass rusher got to Dak immediately after he released the pass.
- i.e. There was not any more time to progress to the point at which Hilton cleared the initial DB.

Receivers are only open if they get open at the correct time.

3 ex NFL QBs have already analyzed this play and didn't have an issue with Dak not throwing to Hilton.
But all the couch / basement GM's and coaches know better, they know more than all the combined so called experts.
They have shelves full of teams playbooks and scouting reports.

Jalen hurts is limited but their OC / HC crafted a system for him to succeed and look where they are now.
Their GM also got him the best OL and one of the best WR's in the game. And a consistent defense to help.

Moore couldn't dial it down and Dak couldn't dial it up.
Yeah those sleep number beds come with hard to understand directions. Maybe the sales people need a class and film study on how to relate instructing customers. :muttley:

We will find out. But it won’t change.. We win and it’s a team game. We lose and its Daks fault.

the two receivers were at the same level, Dak could throw to one or the other, the LB's movement was almost instantaneous and Dak decides to throw to the side where there are 3 defenders, did experts analyze that play? they must be Dak lovers just like you. pause at 1:55 vision is at the forefront
Yep these people will do anything to defend Dak even when the video shows the truth. Dak panics and just throws to CD.

there was also a safety on top on that side of the field, so not the throw to make.no safety on the left so throw to that side.
When was Hilton open? It wasn’t immediate. You don’t have all day to throw it. Warner sprinting to cover man on with the guy in the slot is the matchup you want. It’s a split second decision. The QB recognized the disguised blitz and had to throw the ball. Blitzer comes just as the ball is snapped. Where do you go when you know the blitz is coming and you know the LB on the opposite side has to cover your #1? It’s a quick play but a simple read. Maybe Dak waits a few seconds longer and sees Hilton open? He’s probably sacked at that point.

Every team has a play or two like that in the playbook usually "break glass in case of emergency". Due to Schultz not getting his other foot down the possibility of 76 yard scoring play where the defense was in a prevent was next to zero.
