Moore or McCarthy

It wasn't mutual. It was a you quit or you're fired deal. So they "mutual agreed" to part ways. If you buy that then I have a bridge to sell ya.

P.S. Landry DOES count.
Landry was put out to pasture. That’s not fired. Don’t Disgrace. Him

No way Jerry fires McCarthy to make Kellen head coach unless he’s really desperate. Moore is not ready to be a head coach. He has zero experience, not in the NFL, not in college, not even HS. He is still growing as a coordinator. Becoming a head coach now could be disastrous for him and us.

First, he has coached nowhere but here….he doesn’t have the connections to put together a staff. He needs more experience and more interview experience.

Personally, I’d be more concerned about losing Quinn at this point. McCarthy and probably a dozen or more guys could take this offense and run with it due to the abundance of riches.

How long have we been searching for a coordinator on the other side, like Quinn, who can get so much out of so little and seemingly know the types of players needed?

I also want a proven head coach who can bring it all together, having done it before. This is too talented a team on the rise to put it in the hands of another first time coach, letting him learn as he goes.
Further, I see McCarthy’s influence on Moore this year. In the past, Moore was always trying to outthink and trick the defense, often with ridiculous calls all over the field and the red zone. Moore never stuck with the run game until McCarthy said we must be more balanced, play complimentary football.

I like what I’m seeing so far, but no way in hell do I want Kellen as head coach next year. Trust Jerry to keep him the way he kept Garrett, making him the highest paid assistant. McCarthy, Moore, and Quinn appear to be the right formula once again. Keep them all, and if Moore chooses to leave, he leaves. That side of the ball isn’t going to fall apart if McCarthy takes over play-calling.

MM, curious who he'd bring to OC the Cowboys if Moore did leave.

There are tons of coaches who are good OCs and DCs and just aren't cut out to be a HC. He is one of them.

Again, what PROOF do you have? I mean, to state the obvious, Moore's never been a HC, so you actually have none.

He had never been an OC before either, but it appears he picked it up fairly well.

For every Jason Garrett, Marty Mornhinweg and Josh McDaniels, there is an Andy Reid, Sean Payton, or Bill Belichick.

The point, if it isn't obvious, is that no HC is a great HC until given the opportunity.

Hiring Moore as your head coach would be like buying that new model car in its first year of production.

Moore would be foolish to leave Dallas after this season.

Nope. Hilarious people want to move onto another learning curve coach with Jerry taking the full reins on everything else. What do people think is going to happen? He's a dam good OC, doesn't mean he's a HC. Look at what's his face in NE. McCarthy not only has some pull with the big guy, I'm sure he has a real legit HC plan. You could actually see it. Not some mystical process. Anyone thinking otherwise is truly not paying attention. You think Jerry just woke up after Garrett left? Now you want to make a coaching change and put it back completely in his hands... sounds like a great plan. lol

It doesn't mean he's Not head coach material either.
And how did anyone know Sean Payton was .. i don't recall the flood gates for Payton when made his bid for HC jobs, when only low market Saints being the
top interest.

And how do we know Kellen cannot be a Payton, Sean McVey, Klingsbury.. ? With the chance to be one of hottest, new young offensive mind HC..

- And this isn't an outsider that you'd have to learn about him. This is a guy that is under your umbrella, he's inside your own organization, you should
have feel and vibes about his ability to organize, lead, adjust, his motivational skills, ability to attract and draw respect.
Just like any new HC, you have to chance that he has more pluses than minuses, and take that team to another higher level than
the same ole walk around status quo.

With McCarthy, what he is, is what he will always be.

i've seen MM's game management, and it's not a revelation. it stands to rise its' ugly head again, and who knows who pointed at Bones to halt the ridiculous decisions on special teams.

This team works off what their coordinators can bring more than what anything McCarthy
brings to it. i still don't get what his biggest worth is to the team, or what makes him exceptional.

And thus far, i've seen this management force him into some things that he would have allow to continue on.
Ala keeping Mike Nolan. Just as McCarthy kept on DC woeful Dom Capers that added to GB defensive troubles.

- i really believe it was management that "influenced" MM to not only retain Moore as OC, but let him continue to call the
plays and run the offense his way.
i also believe that it was management that insisted that McCarthy fire his own DC as well as DL coach Tomsula., just as i believe management
team recommended and influence Dan Quinn

- And do you really think the Jones is going to want to chance Dak Prescott having to learn a new offense, after what we are seeing him
develop and perform so highly in the current Kellen Moore offense ?

-Jerry, if you want your next Sean Payton (that you thought was Jason Garrett) ..that you have under your roof in Kellen Moore, then let's go ahead and anoint Moore as HC.

I'd give McCarthy what the St. Louis Rams did with Diicck Vermeil in forcing him into gracefully " retirement ' and announcing Mike Martz as new Rams HC per engineer of the Greatest Show on Turf.

Let McCarthy retire, and anoint Moore as new Cowboys HC.

Moore is on the quiet side same as Garrett. He's not an in your face type coach and wouldn't be a good leader of a team same as Garrett. It would be Garrett 2.0 if he were the head coach.

Good to know. You seem to be a real authority on the subject.

“Moore” is the right answer, and I think Jerry’s thinking he’d be the eventual HC. I have a hard time seeing him can McCarthy after a good season, but it’d be the right move. McCarthy is an ok coach, but he’s not special. Moore is a special coordinator. It’s worth the risk to see if he’s a special coach.

Do you think, if pressed, to keep one or the other - will Jerry terminate McCarthy to keep Kellen and make him HC or let him go and keep McCarthy?
It’s a good question. I believe he would.

At least up until now, they work together. I think McCarthy shields Moore enough so that he can shine. I wonder if Moore had full responsibility if the results would be the same.

Yeah, Jerry would NEVER fire a successful head coach, right?

Apples and oranges ........you're suggesting he fire MM to avoid losing Moore, even if he's successful. Jimmy wasn't fired to promote an OC. To be honest, using Wade Phillip is probably a better example but as long MM takes this team where Jerry wanna go ( deep postseason run) he's not getting fired to avoid losing KM..........just not.
