We all know we need to have our safeties make some plays on the ball and with O-Scan coming back what do you think of moving Moore to safety to work with Church? He would be an improvement over JJ or Heath and even though he plays CB he is solidly built and is physical. Just something I have been thinking about.

We could get our four best coverage guys on the field along with our best open field tackler in Church.

I think its best to leave things as is and let the secondary grow with each other. There's potential there. And I think Wilcox would hurt the most by the move. Plus i've learned from the whole Alan Ball thing...let corners be corners and let safeties be safeties.

That being said, i'm sure there's some formations where they'll have their 4 best cover guys out there. They have no choice when they see teams like the Aint's who go 4 deep including their tight end.

Speaking of Ball, he had a descent season as the starting CB for Jaguars last year and he is starting for them this year. TBH, I thought he'd be out of the league by now.

I don't seem to remember him playing terrible here as a cornerback. That move to safety is what killed him. But as a 4th corner on this team? He wasn't terrible. He's made a decent career for himself since leaving here.

Right now, I can't help but wonder if Moore wouldn't be a good decision to replace Claiborne in the lineup.
I can't help but think the main reason that hasn't happened already might well be because of the fact that this franchise has given up so much to put Claiborne on the field to begin with. As far as production, give me Moore.

I don't know about replacing Claiborne, who will grow more as well, but he probably deserves more package time. This will allow him to age a little as well.

Granted, there's something to be said for allowing Mo to prove himself more thoroughly. Perhaps it would't be such a bad idea to let Moore replace him until such time as his shoulder is right, however. Mo appears overly cautious right now not to re-injure what may currently be a nagging problem. Gotta like what Moore is doing lately, though. Can't help but think his performance may well be on the upswing.

Have no idea if that will work but I like the player. My guess is he is too valuable at CB but if Wilcox fails due to health or whatever that seems an option to me. He's playing the Nickel isn't he?

I would prefer putting claiborne at safety to see what he can do there before we give up on him all together.
Wilcox is a true SS and will be a good replacement for church one day but we need a true ball hawk.

Where's that this ain't madden pic?
He's too small for safety in real football. Both Mo and Moore.

Moore has a totally different build than Mo. He is much thicker and looks like he could play S.

Mo is to small and frail to play S. When I was in Oxnard I was surprised at how much bigger Moore was than the other corners - he looks like a safety

I'll just wait a few more games, or so. Let this DL find their ways, find a niche and learn how to create a more effective pass rush. We get Spencer back soon, then DLaw. I think the entire DB issue works itself out into a pretty decent unit.
Our defense is really having their preseason games and still not 100%. I don't think we still seen the true starting lineup yet. They played well, better than expected the 1st 2 games. I'll give it a few more.

Says 5"10" one 192 at combine. Bigger than I thought. I still don't see it.
It's a move that doesn't happen very often. I would like to see him on the field more.

The transition from corner to safety is not as easy as people think. Safety's have to see the field differently, this is why Alan Ball struggled.

Yes Moore is playing the slot - Moore and church could start at S with Carr and Scan at the CB position and Mo could come in and play on the outside in the nickel. Just my take

I understand but if you just play him as a single high ball hawk size doesn't matter. Church can then play his true position up in the box more.
