This will take time if a trade is going to happen at all. Romo has to redo contract for a trade because no one is taking it as is. If he doesn't agree to redo then release is only option.

The only option other than, ya know, keeping him.

Simply put, Jerry lacks the stones to do the right thing for the Cowboys which is to tell the league, including Romo, that there will be no release.

Trade, backup or retire. There are your options.

And watch the trade market develop then.
Is this your way of admitting you were wrong?

I agree. Don't believe he has it in him. We'll see...

Houston trading a 2nd next year with Osweiler kind of shows they believe Romo is getting released. Any trade would involve a conditional 2018 pick and I doubt they'd want to trade more of next year's picks.

Jerry will blink. Wait for it.

My prediction is we get the worst deal in history.

Den gets something for Simien
Cle trades Osweiller for a pick
Hou gains cap space they use to target the FA we go after.
We get the largest dead money cap hit in the history of the NFL.
Someone gets Romo for a song.

Nice job.

Exactly...

Houston making that move is just completely arrogant and I got a bad feeling that Jerry is going to do whats right by his feelings.

I am thinking a conditional 14th round pick in 2045 for Romo

Protection? It's a year-to-year deal. They can cut him after the first year and owe him nothing. You don't get more protection than that in the NFL.
New team will protect the '14M' or whatever it turns out to be if Romo gets hurt in preseason, week 2 whatever.

If that were to happen, Jerry Jones would be the laughingstock of the entire league.

Would a contract redo change at all the cowboys cap hit?
