Just now on SportsCenter, Mortensen cited how Jerry and Shanahan are close and have worked against each other the past two training camps; how Shanahan coveted Romo and offered more money when he was an UDFA; and how the Broncos wanted T.O. when he was a free agent. Mort followed it up by saying that while we have to take Jerry at his word, a move like this has to at least get the attention of Jerry.

Jerry did made the comment about keeping Wade before Mr Shanahan was available....keep your fingers crossed.

wasn't wade the broncos' coach before shanahan landed the gig? i would love for shanahan to come aboard and demote wade to defensive coordinator. not that i like shanahan much, which i don't, but wade is just an excellent defensive coordinator, but an awful head coach.

If we get Shanahan, well hey I did put up a post about Romo having that one great season. If Shanahan replaces Wade, Romo could have several great seasons. Shanahan would be a huge improvement over Wade. The players know Wade is a cream puff and there is nothing Wade can do to change that image. Shanahan can come in and straighten things out.

Geez, keep forgetting about the training camp angle and the fact that Shanny wanted Romo. TOTALLY forgot about that.

God please let this work out. Please, please, please. For the love of all that is Cowboy, please. It just makes too much sense.

This, on the other hand:

I refuse to give this even 1% possibility that this will happen. We can all dream guys, but don't get your hopes up.

And Jerry can back out of his support for Wade based on that very reasoning.

"Look, the game changed when this man became available."

It makes sense that Cowher's presence hasn't interested us, as he wants total control. Ain't gonna happen. Shanahan is at a different point.

Hey, it's either be excited for this for at least 20 minutes before the story is shot completely to hell, or just gripe and moan about the horrid state we're currently in. lol

For at least a little while longer, I'll prefer to be excited about the possibility of something. :)

Because, as you said, I'm sure I'll have more than long enough to dwell on the reality of Phillips.

We kicked it around some yesterday that perhaps, Jones didnt fire Wade because the person he wanted wasnt available or said they were going to sit out another year. He also said he wasnt firing Wade before teams began calling to interview Jason Garrett.

Norm speculated the main reason Jones didnt fire Wade was because a new coach would likely want to fire Garrett too, but if Garrett leaves on his own thats not a concern.

I also still find it odd that Phillips didnt address the team yesterday.

Out of curiosity, who is Shanahan's agent? Curious if it's a Sexton type that has a good relationship with Mort and could have provided some inkling for Mort's report, or if he's just talking on a hunch/basic background.

boy would it be good to have Jerry on the phone right about now with shanahan and see his interest of coming to Dallas.......

I don't want to hijack this thread, but since you mentioned Phillips not addressing the team, I have to say this: We were less than three hours into Phillips' new campaign of "change," and Bradie James had already completely shot the whole thing to hell with his comments essentially saying he didn't buy it.

That, right there, told me Phillips has to go ASAP (as if all the prior evidence didn't say the same thing).

I think many people are taking what James said the wrong way. He wasnt saying it to be negative, he was saying the truth. What he said was 100% correct.

he can't spin his CONTINUITY spiel.

jerrry would have to say HE WAS COMPLETELY WRONG which is not in his DNA.

I hope Jerry realizes that Wade Phillips changed approach will not be believable and brings in the Shan
