Said if Parcells had left, Jerry might have made a move on TO but with Parcells here not a chance.

Thoughts?

Not to Philly.

And besides, the whole world knows the Eagles are releasing TO anyway. Why would they trade anything aways for him. Especially when they would want to negotiate their own contract.

Yep, nobody's going to trade for him. There aren't too many takers No. 1, No. 2 teams know that under no uncertain terms will TO be playing for the Eagles and No. 3, any team that trades for him has to assume his current contract, the one he was griping about. You let him test the free agent market and structure a deal that suitable to him and to the team, including major morality clauses.

Philly is just trying to get something in return. Grasping at straws maybe, but there will be some desperate team willing to part ways with a 4th or 5th round pick.

Interesting thought....if Rosenhaus gets permission to seek a trade, he basically gets the chance to discuss a contract with another team....nobody will deal for him, but a team if interested will no what TO expects to be signed.....stupid move by the Eagles unless someone steps up and gives them a pick......keep the Dolphins away, they gave up a #2 for AJ Feeley....

btw, I want him signed to a "cap friendly" deal!!!

T.O. Just keeps showing the world how dumb he is by keeping DR as his agent.

It makes sense to trade for TO if you want him.

These would be his remaining cap numbers :

2006 770,000.00
2007 5,500,000.00
2008 6,500,000.00
2009 7,500,000.00
2010 8,500,000.00

A premier WR for less than a mil.

Then you have your one year testing ground. Either he performs or gets booted. If he wants to sit out or cause a ruckus, than screw him. Make him a permanent bench player, release him, or trade him with zero cap ramifications.

What are you risking ? A 3rd or fourth rounder ? Then you eliminate the competion and need to work a new contract.

Don't forget by trading for him you also assume his 6.5 mill bonus due March 1st i believe

Well actually it is not that simple. First, how much of each of those remaining salaries is the signing bonus that is spread over the life of the contract? Usually majority of the year by year cap hit is the bonus money, and little of it being base salary.
if you cut him after year 1, then all the remaining money that was spread out as part of the signing bonus would hit immediately at time of cut, unless it was after june 1st which then half would count against cap this year and other half next year.
With those numbers left on his contract, signing him with the thought that you may have to release him after one year would make trading for him with his current contract very costly and a big risk seeing what a cancer he can be on every team he plays for.

SB has already been paid. Which was 10M. The Eagles take that hit, same as the Commanders ate 9M for trading Coles this year.

Bad idea. Jim Johnson would turn Ellis into a very good DE unlike Zimmer.

Ellis in Philly under Jim Johnson would get at least 10 sacks.

i got a question, i never saw this anywhere(havent looked that hard), but has Mort said anything about him being so dead wrong on Parcells.

I remeber Mort saying he has inside sources telling him that Parcells will retire, and that he stronly belives that BP wont be back for the next season. ANd then went on to say that since BP wasnt dismissing the reports that he was right.

6.5 mill is a roster bonus that is due in March of this year it has not been paid, and whoever takes the contract is liable for it

I don't think any one will trade for him looking at the Eagles prob going to release him around march due to the bonus he's expected to make...
