Bad idea. Jim Johnson would turn Ellis into a very good DE unlike Zimmer.

Ellis in Philly under Jim Johnson would get at least 10 sacks.
JImmy Johnson is a top notch DC and you think Ellis only improves by 2 sacks?

Given your irrational Zimmer hatred that is a shocking statement.

Hello?!?! Are we forgetting the reason TO is in this situation is because he wants a NEW CONTRACT? The salary that was listed may be close, but you can triple the signing bonus to get him. Besides, I don't want him.

Point of the day. Any team giving up a pick is retarted. I did disagree about signing him though, I would sign him unlike this poster.

My Zimmer hate is rational.

I have said it before. Zimmer could have a Hall of Famer at every position on defense in the peaks of their prime. We would still get little pressure on QBs and do a crappy job of forcing turnovers. We would still be a read and react defense that bend dont break...and still the worse blitzing team in the NFL.

If they do trade him, the only way he would be traded to us if we were absolutely the only team with any interest. As much as Philly probably hates him, I doubt they want his talent within the conference, let alone the division.

But Hostile's point remains (and I was thinking the same thing)...

If Johnson = Great DC, and Zimmer = Worst DC, then why do Ellis predicted sacks go from 8 (under Zimmer) to just 10 (under Johnson). He could do that by simply increasing his snap count which was WAY down by season's end.

Notice I did say AT LEAST 10 sacks. That meaning that is the worse he could do. But I would guess more like around 12 sacks.

Just like if Ware had a real DC I am positive Ware would had at least 12 sacks real easy and won DROY easy.

If we should be lucky nuff to get Dom Capers as our new DC. Look for Ware to get between 15 and 20 sacks.

It went right over his head because he's rational.

Why would you part with a 1st rounder for a guy who will probably get released if Philly doesn't net a trade.

He's done in Philly. Period. They eitehr cut him or trade him, and everyone knows that, so anyone who is going to be willing to give up a 1st rounder for him is just a moron.

Trade Greg Ellis straight up...

What!?!?! The Eagles did not give up that much to get Owens in the first place! If anything Owens has less equity to a team now then when the Eagles first got him.

TO WAY lowered, not raised the contract he will get by his antics this year. IMO noone would take his contract even it cost no picks. Noone. Giving up a pick to inherit a contract calling for a big bonus in March and big salaries on a guy that appears as stable as nitro? No chance. He will be released. Bank on it. He will NOT get an 8 figure signing bonus.

I think the point is that Philly isn't looking for a huge return from T.O., they want to dictate where he goes if they can.

So, if he can cut a deal with some AFC team, then they'd be willing to take maybe some depth player and a mid-round pick for him.
