I put them ahead of every other team in the tournament if you factor the way they match up with us and also their intangibles. That said, they do not especially frighten me either.

The Cowboys do, however. We have spit out the bit too many times against Reid and that team that I have trust issues. I am not too proud to admit that I have been jaded.

If. I'd prefer playing inferior teams to get to what really matters, even if it means an extra road game. Home games, divisional titles, even byes, all are secondary and practically irrelevant in comparison.

Call me cautiously optimistic. I have been so disappointed by the play of the Cowboys in the last 3 years and I understand your your reluctance to jump back in with both feet. I also believe this is a different team. To beat NO and then shut out the hapless Commanders has me feeling good. I think they will continue building momentum by beating the dirt rotten stinking eagles this weekend. If they win soundly I expect you back on the bandwagon leading the cheering.:)

I could feel that way, but the way things have shaped out the last week or so have tempered the enthusiasm I had after the Saints win. The hapless Buccaneers with a rookie QB beat the Saints in New Orleans. Washington was actually worse than I thought they were. I think the Cowboys are playing perhaps the best football they have since our last world championship.

But, as we know, looks can be deceiving. I felt even better about the 13-3 team and we fell flat on our smug faces in that postseason against a tough divisional opponent. Perhaps I am behaving like an abused wife, but I think it is somewhat justified.

He's not saying tank the game... he's saying there may be a silver lining in losing.

This is probably an article better saved for after a loss, but I suppose he wanted to get on record before-hand.

Personally, I say win the damn game and beat anyone who comes into our house. But I see the argument he's making and it's not without some merit.

Let's hope that this kind of rationalization doesn't enter the player's minds on Sunday.

Some dysfunction still remains in this team's offense and I see winning this weekend's Eagle game as a necessary step for ironing out the wrinkles, building their confidence, and continuuing their momentum. The last two wins were against questionable opponents(Saints are sliding),,, a win this weekend would be huge.

Beyond that, meeting Philly again in the playoffs is a possibility in either case and I'm sure they don't relish the idea of playing the Cowboys a 3rd time either,,,, I'm also sure they would like that 3rd game to be IN Philadelphia and they would like all the other positives that come with a higher seed.

It's possible that the 6th seed will pan out as an easier route to take, but most likely it will be the tougher route.

That is important. It is okay for jaded fans to think that. But it is not for the players and I do not believe they look at it like that.

I want to win but I like our fallback.

Of course its difficult to beat a team three times in a season. That's because only good teams make the playoffs and earn a third meeting. But if we beat Philly in our house this week, we'll be in their heads the following week and our home field advantage will be magnified.

If we lose, I want the Cards. We're a better team and there is no home field advantage when Dallas comes to AZ. None.

I don't think the players would think that. From their point of view, I'm sure they would want another home game the following week.

While I think Philly is as good as any team in the playoffs, I would rather play them at home in the first week than any other time in Philly.

Would we have a greater chance of beating Minnesota or Arizona on the road than Philly at home?

Maybe so, but thats OK.

By gametime Dallas will know if Minnesota has won or lost and if lost only one other thing has to fall into place for them to get a bye. That is a lot to play for IMO!

Plus their record at home this year is not very special (4-3).

I would rather not play them at all. I would worry about the possibility of facing them in the NFC Championship if we win a playoff game.

I don't want to lose, but in Minnesota--

We would put a lot of pressure on Favre. Their secondary is suspect, they have horrible special teams and they are reeling.

The problem is going to Philly after that game, That's why you wanna win.

Beating Philly would be the biggest Cowboys victory since Super Bowl XXX. Yes, bigger than the last playoff win over Minnesota. It would be putting the proverbial big gorilla to rest. There would be no doubt about who's the best team in the NFC East. And it would put doubt in Philly's minds that they can beat us. A sweep over Philly, a three game winning streak and the NFC East crown - now that's momentum and it's the easiest route to where the Cowboys want to go, no matter how you slice it.

Looking at this all wrong. Philly should be worried about having to play us three times!

Well, that goes without saying doesn't it.

Philly is more balanced Offensively and Defensively than New Orleans and Favre does not play well against us so I think Philly would be tops on my list of teams I don't want to face, but we handled them in Philly the first game from a defensive standpoint so I am confident we can do that again!

I agree to an extent. As Alexander posted earlier, we as fans have been let down so many times in key moments with this team.

Knocking the Eagles out of the playoffs would be the biggest win this decade IMO. So it isn't so much about next week, but maybe the week after. The road through the NFC becomes significantly easier with them out of the mix. No other team in the NFC really scares me. Especially the Saints, Cards, and Vikings. Packers? Maybe a little, but I would like Dallas in that rematch.

Well-put.

I say, beat all comers.
