Very Interesting ... i didn't think i'd see such a graphic anime on Hulu .. as oppose to Netflix or HBO/Max (ala Primal)

also i had thought after the successful premiere of " Prey " .. ..that Hulu would have followed it up with a sequel to Prey ..maybe in a different time zone in the future

.

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" will reach the end of its interstellar journey with a shortened fifth season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ announced that "Strange New Worlds" has been renewed for a fifth season, but that Season 5 will be its last. The season will also be shorter than previous seasons, consisting only of six episodes.

The good news for "Star Trek" fans is that there's still three seasons left to the series. Season 3 doesn't premiere until July 17 and Season 4 is currently in production. Read more

It feels to me as though Star Trek has quickly had another rise and fall, which seems to be a repeating pattern for the franchise.

The original series and cast had their own rise and fall, as did Next Generation and their cast.

Discovery started off incredibly strong in my opinion, and then really ran out of steam and creativity before its rushed exit.

At this point, Strange New Worlds is the only thing keeping the franchise going. Unfortunate that they would announce its’ end this far in advance.

It is not mandatory or contractually based, but The Next Generation set an unofficial standard for longevity. The series lasted seven seasons, more than doubling the run of The Original Series.

Deep Space Nine and Voyager immediately followed TNG, which had seven seasons each. No other series has matched those three since ST: V ended with its series finale, Endgame. Enterprise barely made it four seasons.

I doubt anyone remotely thought Patrick Stewart would ever match his TNG run with Picard. I did have high hopes that Strange New Worlds would easily get the series run standard back to seven seasons. Que sera sera.

It would not surprise me if Lower Decks keeps trucking along and claims the franchise's series run title. It has already run for five seasons. The format is geared for a young audience and probably appeals to older audiences as well. It is the formula that has kept series like The Simpsons and Family Guy running for decades.

I wouldn't know though, since I have never given the show a serious chance. Maybe one day I will. Perhaps it peeves me off The Animated Series lasted only two years, while something like LD has kept chugging along. Yeah. The artwork was real basic, even by early 1970's cartoon standards. And the dialogue tended to drone on in many episodes, but <expletive>Jim! I LIKED IT! :laugh:

Was a reason given? SNW had some great episodes, as well as a good continuing story. It had a few episodes that made me think, "Huh? What was that?", but for the most part it was (is) one of the better series, IMO.

Per The Hollywood Reporter (link): The news comes amid Paramount Global engaging in cost cutting and announcing last August that it will reduce its U.S.-based workforce by 15 percent given the industry’s economic headwinds.

It is not a direct explanation, but saving a buck is usually the reason.

It seems that many of the streaming platforms are cutting back. Disney+ is another one that’s making cuts, specifically in the area of big budget series like Marvel and Star Wars.

And like those, Star Trek undoubtedly has a huge budget.

Having said that, it’s also very likely one of their most-watched series and a big reason why people subscribe. Both Paramount and Disney need to find a careful balance to avoid losing viewers and subscribers.

I've started watching Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix - mind you it's very blood graphic and viollent,..and only 8 episodes, but man it's been awsome thus far.
( and comes in quite handy while i'm watching & treadmilling too..!!)


I'm starting also with Sirens -the Witcher first ,.before i head to Nightmare of the Wolf ....

Yep. The first time I mentioned the show was November 2023 (link). And I recommended it back in May of last year (link). :)

I cannot wait for the second season. The first season was like an animated Kill Bill: Vol. I. It will be crazy if we get an anime Kill Bill: Vol. II type effort when the series resumes.

The previous three Fantastic Four movies from 2005, 2007, and 2015 were produced by FOX. All three films were separate stories from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) created by Marvel Studios, distributed by Paramount, Universal, Sony, and primarily by Disney--beginning with Iron Man in 2008.

Yes. Fantastic Four: First Steps is the second remake/reboot since the original 2005. However, neither the original nor the first remake had anything to do with the MCU. This latest remake, coming out July 25, was made exclusively for the MCU storyline.

If you thought the original was great, it is my overwhelming hope this newest FF movie blows your socks off. I thought the first two movies were good, and the last one piss poor pathetic, but none of them truly adapted the comic book title to the big screen in my opinion. Some of the things I hope are done 'right' this time around:
  • Do really justice to Galactus. It was a blatant insult, remaking the character into a space cloud entity
  • Give the team a grounded, family-oriented aura. That is a central aspect of their comic book.
  • Make Sue Storm/Richards character the powerhouse she is. No nosebleeds or exhausting usage of powers this time around. :rolleyes:
  • Make The Thing's CGI realistic. Extremely important in my opinion. No goofy prosthetic cosmetic overlay. No overly dramatic rocky appearance.
  • Make Reed Richards' stretching abilities realistic-looking as well. Not campy looking.
  • Galactus and Silver Surfer are Power Cosmic entities. Demonstrate their abilities fully in that respect. Do not hint at their abilities. Do not gloss over them either.
  • Reed's intellect is at or over Tony Stark, who was absolutely brilliant. Showcase it as much as Stark's was.
I could go on. I do not think the first three versions did the group justice. For what it is worth (and this is just my opinion), even the 'worst' MCU movies have gotten its characterizations mostly, if not completely right. I say mostly because examples like Salma Hayek's Ajak in Eternals still make me want to puke, but I digress.

Pascal was good casting. I hope that they use him as much as they did Robert Downey Jr. in as timely and efficient a manner as humanly possible.
