Mosley: Cowboys should ignore Tony Romo's 'I'm healthy' pleas and draft a quarterback

Dumb take. Tony and the FO have already expressed interest in drafting a QB, regardless of his present heath.

Very true, Romo even hinted to pick one up earlier in the off season. We're just hoping JJ's version is in the Wentz/Goff/Lynch range to capitalize on the rare draft position over the Prescott type range is all. If you're going to do it, do it! etc. Don't Quincy this thing up JJ;):D

I agree with Mosley. If they think there is a QB at 4 worth taking, they should do so.

Even if Romo is healing up from his surgery, he's no spring chicken. A QB should still be drafted to eventually replace his old, worn-down, tattered butt. We've already seen how hard it was to get a good QB to replace a good QB if you don't prepare for it. Let's not go through that gain.

Draft a QB. Do not draft a QB.

It all depends if there's truly a QB worth drafting highly this year. Many years simply do not have a worthy one in the draft.

Hope is not a strategy when it comes to quarterbacks.

Exactly.
Tony is not making a political or managerial statement -- he's just happy to answer the health question in the affirmative.

There's no story here.

I hope you are not truly that naive
No matter how good a guy tony is, we are talking multiple millions of dollars here
You can bet your bottom dollar that Tony will do everything in his power to ensure cowboys don't take a QB at # 4

Of course it's time to put Romo's heir apparent on the roster. The only question really is whether they like Goff enough to take him at #4, and if he'll be there anyway.

Since SF signed Kap I'm hoping they don't sneak up. The Rams or even Denver could trade up and kill the Goff pick. It's going to be intense. Would love Wentz but evidently he's a lock to Cleveland.

That's what I'm figuring. I like Goff a bit better, anyway, but both are good options.

I'm not trading up. I'll sit there and take Ramsey if he falls to me, but I think it'll be the QB that's there instead. I'm not sure we take him, but we'd be fools not to.

I agree with this exactly.

Unless you ask me in 10 minutes, then I'll be trading up to No. 1 and taking a quarterback.

Followed 10 minutes later, when I want to trade down and collect picks.

Yeah, the Rams moving up is a possibility for sure.
I think you might be right about SF not being as aggressive too. They might take one if they fall to them but maybe won't actively try to trade up. That new coaches will badly want as many picks as possible..plus the Kap guarantees..
Denver moving that far up would almost be impossible though.

Must be a slow day in the new room. I mean as if anyone would decide not to draft a QB because their soon to be 36 year old QB said he was healthy.

That's the issue. I think even the most optimistic fan has to see tony is close to the end. Even if he is never injured again the time is near. The question is who to replace him with. I love Wentz but don't think he will be there. I think Goff can be a good QB but not sure Lynch couldn't be just as good. But if Goff is there and you pass on him, then you can't trade back up for lynch, then what?
I honestly think once you get past the top 3 the rest would have been worth looking at a couple years ago but to me we are too close to the end for tony to go after a huge project at this point
And those that think it's too soon to take a QB I would say either you expect a 1 or 2 win season or you are going to have to move up, maybe a long ways to get a QB in the next few years. Do do it now or do it later for a higher cost, maybe a much higher cost of you are even moving from the middle of the round
To me you either take Goff, or lynch. You may be able to trade back and get lynch but there is huge risk and for all the trade back scenarios I see I don't see the player teams will be trading up for

Should have drafted a QB multiple times over the past ten years.
