No way on Culpepper. He only ever had one really good season- and that consisted mainly of throwing it up for grabs to Moss who usually got there first.

I almost feel bad....

But not really...

If you had read what I said, I was using Culpepper as an example of someone who would be on the market soon that would allow us to hedge our bets with Romo IF we wanted to.

Only one good season?

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/133263

In 2000, 2003, 2004 he had good years.

So you are wrong there.

And by only "one good year," I am assuming you mean the one where he had an MVP type season....in 2004.

He only ever had one really good season- and that consisted mainly of throwing it up for grabs to Moss who usually got there first.

And yet another made up thing....

Moss had 49 catches for 767 yards and 13 touchdowns. (His 2nd lowest catch total and 2nd lowest yardage total of his career).

So Culpepper wasn't just "throwing it up for grabs to Moss who usually got there first."

Who was Moss throwing it to? The great Nate Burleson. 68 catches 1006 yards 9 TD

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/395935

And the great Marcus Robinson. 47 catches 657 Yards and 8 TDs (oddly similar to Moss)

I don't know... From my viewpoint it would make more sense to wait until the '07 season is over...
Like I said, I don't see what the big deal is. Romo has shown more in actual games than a prospect who hasn't even been inside an NFL meeting room.

You know who's situation I'm watching. Marc Bulger. I think Romo will be solid, BUT, if he falters. Marc Bulger would be somebody I'd hoped they'd look into. If STL doesn't pull the trigger, he's gonna be an UFA next year.

Yeah, Bulger would be great.

But there is no way St Louis isn't going to keep him. Last I heard, they were hoping to extend him before the season starts too with a long term contract.

I'm hoping Romo proves to be the Pro Bowler everyone hopes but I don't see the sense in paying him before the season starts, afterall he IS under contract UNLIKE a rookie, they have no pressure to sign him. ;)

Romo is very confident in his ability which was shown in his last contract. There will be no deal ( what I mean is we will not be getting a discount) for Romo just because he signs before the season rather than after it. He knows he can do it, he does not have any doubt so I don't think he will take less now than he would 10 games into the season.

That said, I don't think he is greedy and be asking for a contract like McNAbb, Vick or Manning, but it will be nowhere near a Schaub contract.

I can see a huge staged bonus because of his confidence though. He feels like he will make it very difficult to not keep him IMO.

I think in the end, if he signs now with a staged bonus or mid season with a huge bonus, that the contract will be even more lucrative for him with a staged bonus.

Quick warning to everyone viewing this thread.

No matter how many times you read that (up there), you won't make any sense of it.

Enjoy Chris Cooley.

Cooley seriously has a high-pitched voice to boot... whatever floats his boat... probably Brandon Lloyd by the looks of it.

Given how Reid objected to T. Owens in tights, do you think Andy Reid would allow Cooley to dress like that (if Cooley were an Eagle)?

What a bunch of crap. So the other 20+ teams that passed on Quinn are locked into their quarterbacks too? They can't draft one in 2008 or 2009? Jeez.
