Mosley says Newman is out for Sunday - 9/5/08

The thing that scares me here is that while we are deep at corner, we're deep with an asterisk.

The mentality has been that Newman's our ace, Henry's the steady but aging hand that may slowly move out of the position, Pacman should be good once he shakes the rust off and Jenkins should be good in time.

Suddenly, two of our top three corners (at least for one game, but against a team that can throw the football) are either inexperienced or rusty, which makes me nervous.

After all this talk of have the best secondary in the NFL. I get the feeling we are going to be seeing the same old leaky pass defense. We better just get used to it.

I just hope after this game we aren't wishing we would have kept Reeves.

I don't think ANYONE will be wishing that.

You know, sure, we have depth.

But we don't have two Newman's. Newman is the best corner on this roster, and a top-5 in the league. Pacman isn't that, nor is Henry. But the guy we're going up against this weekend is a top-5 WR in the league.

Newman not playing is a huge advantage to the Browns. Do you put Pacman on him? B will simply out muscle him. Henry? B will outrun him.

The best matchup IMO is a player like Jenkins, or maybe even Scandrick.. but playing a rookie against a top-5 is silly.

I'm just not feeling good. We're probably going to get burnt a little bit. Hope the offense looks sharp.

There's more to completing a pass than the WR/CB matchup. If we get Derek Anderson in uncomfortable positions, we'll be fine. We're on the road, just control the clock and keep possession. Instead of trying to win by scoring 38 points, try to win scoring 24 points or so. 24-13 is just as good as 38-28.

Is Andre Johnson a top 5 WR?

I think I like AJ better.

NO way is Edwards that good.

TO, Moss, Harrison, Wayne, Fitzgerald are all better.

I would put Roy Williams and BOldin and AJ ahead of him as well.

There is a better chance of me winning the lottery tonight than that happening.

On DMN blog Calvin Watkins says Newman is likely to play in Nickel and Dime packages and Pac will start.I am cool with that. But I will say Newman is a slow healer,it sounds more though that they wanna work him in slow thats all.

Edwards had 1300 yards and 16 TDs last year.

I have a hard time putting 4 guys ahead of him.

Moss and Owens of course. A+ receivers.

Wayne, Fitz, Braylon Edwards Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, Chad Johnson, T.j. Houz, Anquan Boldin, Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress, Marcus Colston. A- receivers.

Very hard position to rank.

Edwards is a great WR, no doubt about it. Great size and speed, uncanny ability to make great catches.

He's definitely our main concern Sunday if he is 100% Gotta pressure Anderson, he was sacked only 14 times last yr so it will be tough.

What's that got to do with anything? He got consistently smoked by Marshall.

Becaue there was no pass rush and the QB's had all day to let the pass pattern develop. With enough time, any CB will eventually get beat by the WR.

Why no faith in Scandrick and Jenkins? I think those two are going to do just fine. You guys worry way too much.

You're nuts. After Moss and T.O. it's up in the air. Wayne is the only WR I would definitively put ahead of Edwards, and that may be credited to having an incredible QB more so than Wayne being the better talent.

To say you would put Roy Williams and Boldin ahead of Edwards. :laugh2: Good luck with that.

Edwards possibly not being in the top 10? :laugh2:
