Mosley: Time for Cowboys to draft Tony Romo's successor

If Manziel drops out of the top 5, he will likely be taken no later than #8 by the Vikings. To trade up to #7, you would have to give your 1st, 2nd, and 6th round picks to the Buccaneers. You hope that Tampa likes Mike Glennon enough to not want to take Manziel themselves. I really have no idea what Lovie likes in a QB.

So swap 1st round picks and then give up a 2nd and a 6th? That wouldn't be the end of the world. I just don't know if Manziels skills will translate to the NFL. He is a very small guy, likes to party, and I would just fear him being a big ole bust.

Yep, even Alex Smith ran a lot in the playoff game to good effect -- I bet he had six or seven designed runs. We've seen even a slug like Foles running for a cheap and easy five or six yards when teams don't cover it. More athletic guys like Wilson of course run more, and it works.

So I agree, the QB running is becoming more accepted in the NFL. As long as the QB is smart about it and doesn't get himself get blown up, it can really hurt defenses.

That is the modern NFL QB these days. There are a few exceptions to that rule like Brady and Peyton.. but they are exceptionally smart and elite, so they can get away with it. I really want a guy who can run too.

Because Jerry Jones thinks he hung the moon and would never ever trade him.

This speak volumes and yet gets overlooked by most. Jerry sunk 108 million on Romo and believes he can put the pieces together that will bring him another championship. Problem is Jerry isn't very good at putting a team together and this puts all the pressure on Romo to win.

Ugh!!! 3 times on the same one? That is bad. I had surgery for a rupture disc at the L5-S1 level in 2003 and then again for L3-L4 in 2010. My L4-L5 is bulging so it is just a matter of time before I have to have another surgery. Sciatica sucks!!!!

yeah to make it worse it was l4 l5 which should be one up from yours and dude between the steroid injections and not being able to move she gained 80lbs as well. She has lost 45lbs since her surgery just over a year ago but I've never seen anyone in that much pain. She lived with the pain so much not taking pain killer that ten days after the spinal fusion she felt so good she was only taking over the counter Tylenol. So I have serious doubts about the state of romo's back.

Its all about negotiating, but the points are close with all the charts I could find. It also matches a similar scenario in which Buffalo traded down from 8 to 16 and got a 2nd and 7th last year. Figuring that the 6th would cover the point differential and the fact that Jerry will have trouble negotiating with his boner showing. The last pick could be as high as a 4th rounder, however. All depends on the GM, and the demand for Manziel.
