We're not going to win a thing with this team as currently constructed.. Blow it up this off season.. Draft trenches this Draft.. Let whoever Play QB.. Get Winston Or Mariotta Next Year.. Stop Drinking the Jerry-Aid... We're not a player away... And by the time this team is ready to Win, Romo will be retired or playing for The Cardinals..

Pretty much every coach on this team is on the last year of their deal, including the head coach.......................you dont blow a team up under that scenario...............looks to me like they are going to make one more go of this thing under Garrett and his assistants and if we dont make the playoffs next year, its curtains for everybody.

No way Jerry can sit pat with missing the playoffs 5 consecutive years....................even Jerry knows he would have to clean house under that scenario.

Either Garrett gets this team into the playoffs next season or he is going to be coaching Div 3 Western Omaha in 2015.

My opinions about Romo have shown I'm ahead of the curve compared to a lot of Cowboys fans out there. You have been hating on me every year and every year we sit at 8-8. None of that is Romo's fault right? It's time to move on... but we will go through another 6 and 10 or so season before any drastic changes are made. Enjoy Romo while you can, he won't be around much longer.

It will not matter who is playing QB when you cannot force the other team to punt.................there should not be one single draft pick on the offensive side of the ball made this year.

If we force just 1 single punt in the game against Denver and just 1 single punt in the second half against Green Bay, we are 10-6 and division winners.

So count me out of the "lets draft a QB in the first round" club..................QB is not the problem with this team.

Manziel. He's a perfect fit for this franchise.

His attitude. His style of play. His personality.

All of it screams Dallas Cowboys.

This. I think the guy has serious moxy and is a winner. Plus he has a decent arm and can make plays with his wheels - this is becoming more important in today's NFL. I would pick him in a second.

I'm starting to think we should draft Bortles or Manziel if they are still on the board in round 1.

As much help as this team needs on defense, especially the front 7, I still think QB may be the way to go. I really feel like this could be it for Romo.

Watching Kapernick on Sunday really has me wanting to get a qb that can run. Would take so much pressure off the offense and our defense when a qb can run for a first on 3rd downs. Tony won't even think of running anymore.

Yes, QB is not "THE" problem with the team, but the QB is "A" problem on this team.

Im sure there is a ton of debate going on in this thread.

IMO though Dallas should always be looking for a QB. That is the best currency there is in the NFL to land draft picks.

Take a guy in the 3rd round and he may land you a 1st and a 3rd.

So we should be shopping for a QB at all times. Especially now.

I like the kid from Georgia and his stock is pretty low right now and he might be the best QB in this class.

Time for Cowboys to draft Tony Romo's successor

Editor's note: This is the first installment of Mosley's 3-part series looking at the future of the Dallas Cowboys.
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- I traveled to the Valley of the Sun to watch my alma mater play in its first BCS bowl game. But early in Wednesday's Fiesta Bowl matchup, I became enamored with the play of University of Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles.
While the world celebrated the life and times of Johnny Football, Bortles quietly pieced together an outstanding run at UCF. And on Wednesday, he completely dismantled a defense that helped Baylor win its first Big 12 title. Yes, he threw a couple interceptions in the first half, but Bortles never seemed fazed by those mistakes. He completed 20-of-31 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns. And he added 93 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
He consistently kept plays alive with his feet and then delivered passes with devastating accuracy. Bortles is shooting up draft boards as we speak, but that shouldn't keep American's (.500) Team from taking a run at him. It's time for the Cowboys to draft Tony Romo's successor. I'm not saying Romo's career is over. But Troy Aikman can tell you a thing or two about trying to return from back injuries. The Cowboys have made an enormous financial investment in Romo, but that shouldn't preclude them from thinking about the future.
This organization hasn't even considered drafting a legitimate quarterback during the Romo era, unless you count a longshot project such as former fourth-round pick Stephen McGee. Maybe it's too strong to say the Cowboys are scared of hurting Romo's feelings, but it has felt that way of times. The Eagles drafted Kevin Kolb in the second round in 2008 even though Donovan McNabb was still performing at a high level. Kolb didn't pan out as the starter, but he did eventually score the Eagles a first-round pick. And the Eagles didn't hesitate to draft Nick Foles when Michael Vick was entrenched as the starter. Now, it looks like Foles has a stranglehold on the starting job moving forward.
Jerry Jones seems uncomfortable even broaching the subject of drafting Romo's successor. He's already shot down any talk of selecting a quarterback in the first round. Some have suggested that might be a smokescreen, but I think it's an owner who doesn't want to hedge his $50 million bet on Romo. This is a quarterback who has now had two surgeries on his back in the past seven months. I know having a cyst removed is completely different thing than a herniated disk, but that first surgery did force Romo to miss a lot of time last offseason.

The team that drafts Blake Bortles will be looking for a new GM in 3 years.

I myself am a fan of Aaron Murray, even though he seems to get a bad rap.

Tony Romo had "moxie". Once.

Room is an elite QB and as I have said numerous times, this team would be lucky to win four games a season without him. I think the NFL is the perfect environment for Johnny Football. He is an elite athlete and is a gamer. I hope we take him with our first pick if he is available. I doubt he will be but it is worth wishing for.

Aaron Murray is intriguing to me. Obviously, he's injured, but what a perfect project to sit behind Tony for a couple seasons.

If Manziel drops out of the top 5, he will likely be taken no later than #8 by the Vikings. To trade up to #7, you would have to give your 1st, 2nd, and 6th round picks to the Buccaneers. You hope that Tampa likes Mike Glennon enough to not want to take Manziel themselves. I really have no idea what Lovie likes in a QB.

Yeah all of those guys will be gone. I saw a couple mocks showing Watkins (Clemson WR) going to Tampa. If Manziel is there at #7, it will be a tough decision for Tampa no doubt.

Yep, even Alex Smith ran a lot in the playoff game to good effect -- I bet he had six or seven designed runs. We've seen even a slug like Foles running for a cheap and easy five or six yards when teams don't cover it. More athletic guys like Wilson of course run more, and it works.

So I agree, the QB running is becoming more accepted in the NFL. As long as the QB is smart about it and doesn't get himself get blown up, it can really hurt defenses.
