The turnovers have improved but this D gives up 500 yards a game and over 600 today. There is no way any team is going to be successful giving up that much real estate. They also lack situational awareness.

I agree but you also have to take inconsideration who's doing it. It was Eli, Peyton, Phillip Rivers and Matt Stafford. Its a passing league. Its where we are at. Not that its a excuse but we know this defense is a work in progress. Its full of guys off the street, full of injuries and full of young guys playing a defense they aren't accustom to. They won't shut anyone down but if you generate 4 or 5 turnovers you should win the game.

What does that have to do with the pass rush? We know that is where the problem lies.

Maybe according to you that's the only reason.

But I saw our "Pro Bowl" $50 million cornerback get totally, utterly, and completely abused today.

To the tune of the second biggest single game receiving yardage total in NFL history.

I'm not blaming that on pass rush.

This team gives up 400 yards to every average or above quarterback they face.

Getting to be a joke.

329 yards

There's simply no defending that.

Not figuratively, and not literally.

Calvin Johnson is the best, no doubt, but this team didn't spend $50 million for that.

It doesn't matter how much money is invested in a CB if he isn't getting help from the DL. No one can shut him down 1 on 1. Where was the safety help? Also did Carr cover him on every play?

Not every play, just the vast majority of those 329 yards.

And you pay $50 million for elite, not to then blame the safety or pass rush.

we are setting all sorts of terrible defensive records this season yet some blame Romo.

You know, Im getting tired of this too. I think Im not going to even try to argue them. Maybe allowing two or three more teams to throw for more than 400 yds will make em shut up.

Just maybe.

And dont try to throw Romo´s numbers to them.

Its useless, so useless.

He has been elite and playing at an All-Pro level. The $50M is just what it cost to get that kind of player in FA.

Sure looked like it today when we needed him the most.

It's great that he was so 'elite' against a quarterback the caliber of Nick Foles.

I'd be willing to place a wager that he comes nowhere near 'All Pro' at season's end.

He isn't All-Pro caliber. He is a top 10 CB, but not elite -- today was just confirmation of that.

I am ok with that.

How many POOR games has the defense played in which they didn't even give the offense much of a chance? Probably only 2 games - the SD game and Denver game. They forced many turnovers against the Giants against a shaky offense on opening night. They held the Chiefs to 17 points and gave the offense a chance late to take the lead. Yeah they couldn't get the ball back with 3 timeouts but still, I'll take 17 points given up on the road every time. They shutdown the Rams (the Cowboys offense played well too) and forced big turnovers vs. the Commanders and Eagles to help the struggling offense out.

And today, they forced 4 turnovers and even got what should have been the final stop of the game...with guys like Marvin Austin, Jarius Wynn, Caesar Rayford being forced to play many snaps on the DLine and Jeff Heath, Jakar Hamilton, and BW Webb playing in the secondary.

Of course given the injuries and transition to a 4-3, they're not going to be shutting anyone down but they've done enough to not lose the game completely on their own. Not sure what more people can ask for.

But they GAVE UP over 600 yards!! They totally collapsed & gave up an 80 yd. TD drive in only 50 seconds! They allowed ONE receiver to amass 329 receiving yards, second all-time. I don't care if you get 10 turnovers, you can't give up 600+ yards & win a freaking football game. Zone defense sucks. It doesn't prevent anything except victory.

And this isn't hyperbole, it's true. No team has ever had 600 yards in a game and lost.

Even the six teams that did it with 4+ turnovers are 6-0.

The 623 total yards for the Lions is the 9th-highest total ever for a non-overtime game, and the most the Cowboys have ever surrendered in any game. The old record was 583 yards against the run-and-shoot Oilers in 1991 in OT.

Magnificent defense Jerry Jones has built. Especially loved him hiring a 75 yr old man to manage this talented bunch.
