“here is why..1)your oline cant run block at all,you got HH back to coach the line..but he has to show he can get these guys to play better in the run,so there is a ? mark there.2)you offense is to predicated on romo zigging and zagging and avoiding the pass rush to give your WR time to get open, point being romo makes your online look much better than it really is in pass protection!!3)now the defense, the only guy on this unit i would take is ware,he is legit..your tackles dont collaspe the pocket enough and your secondary with roy still in there can be exposed..you have upgraded your db's but it has to be proven that it will work, still yet another ? mark..4)last but not least,no matter how you play in regular season that pressure of winning a playoff game grows more and more each time you win a game during the season!! thats my take on why this team is way overrated!! any comments? BRING IT!!” The stupid skin fan said.
You want it brought? Here it is.
“your oline cant run block at all”
Wrong and here is why. When you say the offensive line can’t run block at all I would think that the team would rank in the bottom quarter of the league in rushing (25th to 32nd). According to Yahoo sports the Boys rushed for 1746 yards which ranks 17 which are in the middle of the pack (average). That stat doesn't look too impressive, but let’s take a closer look. The boys only ran the ball 419 times that ranks them 21st in attempts. Now you’re probably thinking that’s right boys fan you only ran it 419 times because you couldn’t! Wrong !!! Take a look at the average 4.2 yds. the boys rank 9th in average per carry. I ask you if an offensive line couldn’t run block “at all” do you think they would average that much per carry. I don’t know about you but I think top ten in rushing average is good; that’s a long way from “Can’t run block at all”. What about rushing touchdowns? The boys had 14 tied for 10th again top ten in ranking…that is in my opinion good. The stats are from yahoo sports.
“You got HH back to coach the line..but he has to show he can get these guys to play better in the run,so there is a ? mark there.”
Yes we got Hudson Houck back and I’m thrilled. I think this might be the best acquisition of the offseason and why your argument falls completely apart in the first “sentence” (unusually you start off arguments with your strongest stuff first or people will tune you out and ignore you from the get go). I don’t think I need to remind you of those great Cowboy lines from the early nineties with Emmitt eventually becoming the ALL TIME RUSHING LEADER! Can he (Houck) get these guys to play better? Let’s us take a look at Hudson’s career; with the Rams from 83 to 91; 4 out of those 9 seasons his offense ranked in the top ten in rushing yards; 5 out of the 9 they were top ten in average; and 6 of those 9 they were top ten in touchdowns. I’ll give you this Hudson didn’t do much in his one year with Seattle ranking 20th in rushing; 15th in average and 27th in touchdowns. In San Diego his three years there his line never was below 8th in rushing yards; never below 14 in average and even ranked 1 in average in 2003 and never below 9 in touchdowns ranking 2nd in 2004. Now onto the Dolphins, in 2005 he took over one of the worst rushing lines in the league (they were 31st in rushing yards; 30th in average and 19th in TDs in 2004) and finished ranking 12th in rushing yards; 7th in average and 17th in touchdowns. To me that is improvement. Then with all the coaching upheaval and the Ricky Williams situation the rushing stats slid back to the upper twenties (22 in 06 and 23 in 07) for rushing but still ranked in the middle of the pack (11th in 06 and 15th in 07) in rushing average, while his touchdowns bounced around with ranking 28th in 06 and then coming back up in 07 ranking 10th. The stats are from nfl.com.
Now that you’ve seen his body of work; other than the one year in Seattle and the last two seasons in Miami what makes you think the Dallas offensive line won’t be better? Everywhere he went with the exception of Seattle Hudson improved the line play and we are just talking about the run game. Believe me Skin fan you don’t even want to know about the passing stats! I think your little question mark has been answered on that subject.
“you offense is to predicated on romo zigging and zagging and avoiding the pass rush to give your WR time to get open”
Umm… sigh rolling my eyes…taking a deep breath…NO IT’S NOT!!! When you see Romo “zigging and zagging” you are seeing the result of a busted play or a good defense that took away whatever pattern the receivers ran. That zigging and zaggin is Romo trying to make a play after the designed play has broken down and not standing in the pocket looking “poised”. You’ve got point two all wrong with your Commander logic we have a good offensive pass blocking line and Romo makes them better that is not a bad thing skin fan that is a good thing!!!
“the defense, the only guy on this unit i would take is ware,he is legit..your tackles dont collaspe the pocket enough and your secondary with roy still in there can be exposed..you have upgraded your db's but it has to be proven that it will work, still yet another ? mark..”
…Another sigh… It has been said but I will reiterate we run a 3-4 skin fan we only have one defensive tackle not two on the field. We rely on stunting and blitzing linebackers to create pressure and cause sacks. Speaking of sacks, we had 46 that’s third best in the league (using my logic that’s good) and Ware had 14. If Ware is the only good player we have on defense who got the other sacks? We were 13th in yards given up in passing and that was our weak point, but even with that weakness we had 19 interceptions that ranked 6th in the league. You are right the secondary can be exposed but remember this Skinfan they can make plays and they are only going to get better! Adam Jones > Jacques Reeves!!! As far as Roy Williams blah, blah, blah, he can’t cover… well so what I don’t want him covering I want him roaming the middle looking to knock some receivers head off his shoulders or crashing the line looking to blow up running backs.
“last but not least,no matter how you play in regular season that pressure of winning a playoff game grows more and more each time you win a game during the season!! thats my take on why this team is way overrated!!”
That pressure of winning a playoff game will be the reason they do win a playoff game that and the experience they have been gaining from these past two seasons. That win will be sweet Skinfan.
Take this into consideration Skin fan this was Wade’s first year with the team with mostly Parcells coaches, now our boys are playing Wades attacking style defense with more of Wade’s coaches and our boys are more familiar with the system which should make them a better defense. Oh yeah and I almost forgot to mention Jason Garrett in his first year calling the plays. With a years experience behind him I’m willing to bet he will be even better this coming year (kind of scary huh Skinfan). A better offense and a better defense that is why we are so hyped and highly rated.
