Marinelli is a disaster. 0-16 ring a bell?

Yeah, there are plenty of examples of coordinators, even excellent ones, that couldn't make the transition to being effective head coaches, as there are examples of position coaches, some unproven, that have failed as coordinators.

Firing Garrett during the season when the NFC East is such dire shape would be Jerry going full Al Davis, and you never go full Al Davis.

At the end of the year if he can't make the playoffs you know he's just not capable, if he gets to the playoffs and gets destroyed you know that he's probably not capable, if he gets a playoff win, well thats improvement and he deserves another year.

It's funny the difference a year makes, I read an article yesterday saying Rob Ryan the the next coordinator in line for a HC job. I don't think anybody on here would want that for Dallas.

Just play the year out and get a feel for everything. If he can't so improvement, Lovie coming in and Marinelli stepping up while Kiff rides off into the sunset makes sense.

If Chucky gets the job someones blood will flow through the streets.

So, you'd rather hire the coach who has us in first place in the NFC East and replace him with one (if not the) worst head coaches in modern NFL history? Yeah, people aren't afraid to say that, because no one is silly enough to think it. I'm far, far from a Garrett fan, but I'd much rather ride this season and, if we miss the playoffs, replace him with a GOOD candidate.

I am worried that Garrett may get an extension. I thought Garrett should have never been hired. My father-in-law is a 49er Fan and I wanted Harbaugh as our HC instead of Garrett. To this day, he rips me about how the 49ers made the right choice and we made the wrong choice. Just imagine what Harbaugh could have done with this team for the past few years. Garrett is "Just Another Guy" when being compared to a real HC like Harbaugh. If Jerry just picked the "RKG" then Harbaugh would be our HC right now and Garrett would currenlty be the QB Coach for a Division III College Team.

The harbaugh's are on record saying the Jerry jones's of the world are what is wrong with the NFL.. I may be wrong, but I don't think there was ever a chance either of those brothers would have coached here

Garrett should be fired tomorrow and Marinelli should be head coach. Heck at least fire Kiffin and make Marinelli DC.

Unfortunately, neither of these situations are probably going to happen, yet the vast majority of this forum would agree this would undoubtedly be a good move. And because of politics we are stuck with Garrett and Mr. "Bend don't Break."

Kiffin should just step down. Marinelli as DC would be just fine...but he is not a head coach.

Hey, at least Rod can develop players at his specialty.

i thought u were going to say everyone is waiting for jerry to die but they're to afraid to say it.

Dude! Really? That was over the line and I'm not afraid to say that! I hope the mods have words to say something to you about that. This is a game and to wish someone death even in jest speaks volumes about your character or lack thereof.

Doesn't matter who the HC is. Same results ... for 17 years.

Actually, I was thinking that we should have tried to hire John Fox a few years ago when we had the chance.

If Kiffin is fired Marinelli will be pissed, Kiffin is the reason Rod came here. If u want Rod you have to have Monte. How many times do I have to say this? Sheeeeesh

Great! Now who is going to play safety and defensive line? More street urchins on your mind? You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Oh, and BTW, I'm not thinking that at all. I'm thinking of getting my guys back, make as best of a run this year as I can and get some better guys in some areas next year and the next.

I'm not sure that most people are thinking this. But if they were, I'm sure most people wouldnt be afraid to say it. Not here at least.

Firing Garrett now is basically torpedoing a season where we have a legitimate chance at winning the division. I know we likely won't do much once we get there but if you're in the playoffs you have a shot and I'll take that any day.

I find it sad how the standards for Cowboy fans have slipped.

Now too many are quite content with just 'slipping into the playoffs'

I really can't speak for others but I assume most are like me. You need a ticket to the dance first. Then you see what happens. The first goal is to win the East.
