1)Emmitt Smith...his O-Line made him look waaay better then he actually was.

2)Nate Newton, Erik Williams, Mark Tunei, Mark Stepnoski, Kevin Gogan, Larry Allen... Emmitt Smith made them all look waaay better then they actually were.

;)

In all seriousness, and I am the first to admit I don't know as much about football as others on this board, I would say that while I really like Ware, getting compared with LT this early in his career is a stretch, if he keeps developing then great, but as of now he is a great, young player, not a hall of famer.

that guy played well a couple of times and even I thought there was no better back up qb in the league.

the mid 90's were magic for the dallas cowboys, I coulda been the qb then and we woulda been fine, the gods they were a smiling upon us.

I loved the guy but when he went to the 49s I was SO MAD!

I used to cuss him everytime I saw him in that uniform, in those days how he could trade sides like that.

I was mad at larry allen when he signed with san fran too.

For the last four years it has to be Larry Allen - I don't know how he made those Pro Bowls.

I like Alvin Harper as the most overrated of all-time. Given the amount of attention focused on Emmitt and Irvin in their primes, he should have put up much bigger numbers than he did. It is a shame Dallas never found a good #2 to go with Irvin until Ismail came along. Of course, Irvin's career was over 3 games later. :banghead:

Actually, Alvin Harper was a good number 2 when he was here with the Cowboys.

Alvin was the deep threat and caught several deep balls for the Cowboys.

He became overrated when he went to Tampa Bay as a number 1 receiver.

But he served his purpose for the Cowboys.

I would have to say the most overrated Cowboy I can remember was Steve Walsh based on what we paid to get him, a No. 1 in the 1990 draft that could have landed us Cortez Kennedy or Junior Seau.

Sure, he produced the only win in the 1-15 season, but he wasn't worth the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks New Orleans gave the Cowboys to acquire his rights.

Jimmy Johnson must have been a snake oil salesman in a previous life because he sure knew how to get steals for certain players (see Walsh and Herschel Walker).
