For the last four years it has to be Larry Allen - I don't know how he made those Pro Bowls.
I like Alvin Harper as the most overrated of all-time. Given the amount of attention focused on Emmitt and Irvin in their primes, he should have put up much bigger numbers than he did. It is a shame Dallas never found a good #2 to go with Irvin until Ismail came along. Of course, Irvin's career was over 3 games later.
Actually, Alvin Harper was a good number 2 when he was here with the Cowboys.
Alvin was the deep threat and caught several deep balls for the Cowboys.
He became overrated when he went to Tampa Bay as a number 1 receiver.
But he served his purpose for the Cowboys.
I would have to say the most overrated Cowboy I can remember was Steve Walsh based on what we paid to get him, a No. 1 in the 1990 draft that could have landed us Cortez Kennedy or Junior Seau.
Sure, he produced the only win in the 1-15 season, but he wasn't worth the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks New Orleans gave the Cowboys to acquire his rights.
Jimmy Johnson must have been a snake oil salesman in a previous life because he sure knew how to get steals for certain players (see Walsh and Herschel Walker).
