Honestly I've NEVER seen him miss a tackle because he was looking for a big hit. I have all of last year's game footage so if you'd like to prove me wrong feel free to tell me when during what game. The only tackle I remember him really missing is against Gonzo.... and he wasn't even looking for the big hit then.

I'll agree to a certain extent with this point of view, but what I HAVE seen him do, is miss an opportunity to make an interception or break up the pass in an effort to drop the hammer on someone. To be honest, I think Roy's career interceptio0n numbers would be double wht they are today if he made more of an effort to make a play on the ball and not the player. It's hard to ask a knock-out artist to stop knocking people out, though. Roy just needs to be a little more selective. If there's no chance to make a legitimate play on the ball, then drop him, but if you've got a chance to break it up or intercept, then those plays have to be made.

Joey Galloway, hands down. Good Lord, we sold our soul for that guy, figuratively speaking, and he does nothing!

He might be the most over rated player in the history of the sport.....and he is a multi millionaire......guess that is why they say you can't teach speed...

What's it going to be then, eh?

Galloway played pretty well for Tampa Bay last year. I guess having even a QB above mediocre helps. He certainly didn't have anything close to that here.

Just because Jerry Jones overpaid for him doesn't make him overrated. He has talent. Just he was never worth two first round draft choices. No WR is worth that.

Everson Walls - He had all those interceptions because teams threw his way so often. He was a feast or famine guy. For every interception he had the guy gave up two touchdowns. I still like the person, but I never understood the praise he got.

Past, I agree with Walls.

Present, as others have said, it is Williams in my book.

These are Harper's career numbers with Dallas:
1991 dal | 20 326 16.3 1
| 1992 dal || 35 562 16.1 4
| 1993 dal | 36 777 21.6 5
| 1994 dal | 33 821 24.9 8

The guy never even caught 40 balls in a season. The postseason is the only reason why most fans even remember his name. That and when Jason Garrett was the quarterback.

I would also say Williams today because he's talked about in the media as one of the premier defensive players in the league and that's just not true at all.

I can't say Williams beause I wouldn't trade him straight up for anyone but Ed Reed. I'm frustrated by his play but I know he has the tools to be special. I'm hoping that his subpar last two yrs have to do with the other safety spot. I think if we solidify that with someone he trusts we'll see the guy that made plays again.

Williams was pretty damn decent when he had a decent guy (Woodson) playing besdie him. Even our own (UNDERRATED) Terence Newman didn't come fully into his own until he had a legitimate compliment on the other side.

There are plenty of teams in the league would cut off their left nut for a Roy Williams. And, our Foreskin buddies would never admit it, but they would be drooling at the thought of a Sean Taylor/Roy Williams defensive backfield.

The whole RW is overrated bit is laughable at best.

Marion Barber because some people actually think he's a better option at RB than JJ.

Actually The Answer had a chance to visit Oxnard last summer and I saw plenty of Henson in practice. I've also watched a few of the NFLE games this spring as well.

No actually I'm sure there are plenty of fans that share The Answer's sentiments.

Not really. Some of the things I hear around here, I half expect Roy Williams to be able to walk on water.

Roy is a good player, but he is pretty limited in certain areas as well. A great player should be good no matter who he lines up next to.

I personally thought he played his best football after Woodson got hurt during his rookie year.

While plenty of teams would like to add him, I am sure there are plenty that wouldn't.....basically any Cover 2 team.

Right this minute, I'd say it Flozell Adams. I have never been in love with his play and I was never a fan of his contract. The focus has been off him because he was out for so long and we really saw what happens when you take a guy off the streets and try to turn him into a LT. I think he gets the bennafit of the doubt but his play before he went out was not great IMO. He has had one decent season IMO. Nothing more or less. The other's have been OK but not great. You look at his contract and I just don't think his play matches his price tag.

All time, I think it was Glenn. He cost way too much and produced way too little.

From a fan perspective, I think it was Bill Bates. When he played there were so many fans who would tout him as one of the best Safeties in the league. The reality was that he was very limited in coverage to the point of liability. I just never thought he was very good. I liked him, but I never believed he was anything more then a limited STs and Nickle role player. JMO.

He is limited in coverage. You can't ask Roy to cover a slot receiver like you could with Woodson.

I think he gets lost back there at times as well (Giants game).

I know, this is almost blasphemy.

This is the whole reason I think he is overrated. If you don't proclaim him the greatest thing since sliced bread, somebody is going to get their panties in a bunch.

I am hoping that the Dallas front seven is good enough to stop the run without dropping a safety down in the box much this year. What is Roy's role then?

I think he is a fine player, but you really need him in the box or short zones for him to be at his best.
