Most overrated Cowboy...

On the current team it's hard to think of anyone but Roy because nobody else is rated very high. Maybe Julius because we all assume that games like that Seattle or Carolina game is the "real" JJ and the bad games were just the exceptions.

Historically I'd say Larry Brown and Harper. Brown knew when to have a big game though. Harper... reminds me of Brandon Lloyd. He could make the highlight reel catch every once in a while but was never a consistent performer.

drew bledsoe and alvin harper

Comparing Bledsoe and Harper is ridiculous. Bledsoe had a great season for this team last year, and has been pretty steady over the course of his career...he's far from 'overrated'.

As for Harper everybody knows he was the beneficiary of Michael Irvin's success. The Playmaker drew double and triple teams regularly, leaving a mediocre complement like Harper wide open at times.

My list for 'overated' would include: Henson, Julius Jones and Marco Rivera.

Henson has failed to live up to billing (at least so far).

Julius looks great one or two games a year (when he's healthy) but pretty inconsistent in the rest.

Rivera was not worth the money given to him last year, especially coming off a major surgery. I guess Green Bay knew what the were doing when they let him walk.

No actually I'm sure there are plenty of fans that share The Answer's sentiments.

You'd think that this Henson fellow was the 2nd coming of Troy Aikman the way some people on this board have hyped him up. Right now he's in a fight for survival as he trys to prove he's even an NFL calibur player.

Right now Romo is entrenched as the #2 man behind Bledsoe. Henson will need to have a stellar campaign this preseason or he might not be on this roster beyond 2006.

who cares what the fans think in determining who's lived up to their "billing" and who hasn't? you don't watch him in practice, and it's obvious you don't breakdown his NFLE game film, and besides, Henson's billing wasn't very high in the 1st place, only spent a 3rd round pick on him, he's making chump change, and the whole Cowboy's organization said when he 1st came in that it's going to be a process with him, and guess what? it still is, that looks to me like everything is going according to plan, well the plan that really matters, not some armchair GMs clamoring for him to show definite signs by his 2nd year

Actually The Answer had a chance to visit Oxnard last summer and I saw plenty of Henson in practice. I've also watched a few of the NFLE games this spring as well.

It seems to me that this fellow is struggling in some of the most basic QB mechanics. Are these correctible problems? Absolutely. But I'm still concerned because he seems to make fatal errors at innopportune times.

But he's still young and there's obviously no need to rush him into the lineup since we have Bledsoe and Romo. But there lies the biggest problem, how can we truly assess his ability (or lack there of) knowing he doesn't have any chance to start unless the two QB's ahead of him get hurt? In fact what is he like 26? He might not even get the green light until hes 29 or 30.

At any rate I hope he steps up his game and gives the coaching staff, front office and fans some hope that he very well could be THE ANSWER this summer....

it seems Henson is correcting those problems since Parcells said that he has improved

Oh gawd that's just such a simple answer. Terry Glenn. Past, Present and Future. If he could kill anymore lofty expectations each year, he'd be guilty for mass murder. Never once lived up to his rookie year...but suppose to each and every year according to so many. People say last year was his best year since his rookie season and just unbelievable we have such an amazing age-defying player...yet the guy still came up missing for the last month of the year. Last year though it wasn't injury as an excuse - the guy just couldn't get open to save his life. Lets put it this way...if he was so great Bill wouldn't have required to go out and get such a stud at the same position. Message loud and clear. Do you hear it, Terry? :laugh2:

I would have to say Roy Williams is the most overrated current player. He makes a lot of BIG HITs but he also misses way too many tackles because he is looking for that BIG HIT. If he would concern himself less with trying to make a statement and more with making sure the guy doesn't get away I would be happier with him.

I understand that those BIG HITs create fear in players and they do have a very real purpose but he shouldn't be looking for them on EVERY play. Take them when they come but make sure you can tackle your man first.

As for players from the past I guess I would go along with Alvin Harper or Larry Brown.

Joey Galloway, hands down. Good Lord, we sold our soul for that guy, figuratively speaking, and he does nothing!

Honestly I've NEVER seen him miss a tackle because he was looking for a big hit. I have all of last year's game footage so if you'd like to prove me wrong feel free to tell me when during what game. The only tackle I remember him really missing is against Gonzo.... and he wasn't even looking for the big hit then.

Don't kill me, but I say Aikman. He was great when he had a superb cast around him, but when he didn't have all the weapons around him he started to look pathetic.

Probably Roy Williams.

(To ask your question of Terrell Owens being overrated)

He's not one of the best safeties in the league?
