Obviously when the Cowboys practice in Austin summer heat, they win Super Bowls!
(1990-1996)

Then they moved it to Wichita Falls, then indoors to San Antonio and practiced in air condition.
Then to California.

We just continually got softer and softer as a team.

Time to bring back the winning ways! I'll make a phonecall to St. Ed's if Jerry needs any help??
Q2 stadium might also be a good spot!
OR hire a HC

I agree a lot of these new stadiums have controlled environments now.

Exactly, and I'd anticipate a lot of new stadiums receiving some sort of a roof. Why? Because Super Bowl hosting is big money, and because the players probably would rather play indoors. I like Soldier Field having seen a game there, but I'd expect the Bears next stadium in Arlington Heights, Illinois to have a roof because it's Chicago. So, soon we can probably add Chicago to that list. That seems to be the next team indicating they'd like to change stadiums.

The team has a long history in Southern California, conducting training camp in Thousand Oaks from 63-89 and were one of the winningest teams in Pro football during that era. Don't think there is any correlation between training camp location and winning but in this case Jerry knows it's important to keep the Southern California roots strong because the Cowboys have a large fan base in the area which equals more yacht money for Jerry.
Where you have practice doesn’t matter one bit
Fans think we must have the softest camp in the league but we’ve been fined for too much hitting two years in a row
Teaching a desire to win can be taught anywhere if you have the right players

Exactly, though I'm curious what our players did? Did they breathe too hard on each other?

I get why you would say Austin “is the place”. Problem is, the NFL is under a totally different set of rules in the league’s player agreement. Rules for the number of padded practices have been greatly reduced since the glory days of the 90s when two a days in pads were used in the Texas heat.

I liked it better when players practiced more. IMO, the reduction in practice time has made the NFL game much sloppier. Especially in the fundamentals of blocking and tackling.

i don;t have any problem with attempts towards new and improved training camp conditions,

CBA is trying to make an effort to cut down on physical - medical conditions on players that can be brought on by excessive conditions;
Concussions, soft tissues, wear-tear body toll, heat strokes, football playing surfaces etc.
i would think every worker would prefer their companies and unions attempt to make work envoirment conditions as safe as possible.

Why not just have it at the STAR? The billion dollar facility Jerry built. They can practice indoors and outdoors there. If it’s about money, open it up to the local fans. Never understood the need to go across the country. Just another distraction for this franchise.

I am not hating on Jerry. He is living the American dream but if he could send the Cowboys to Siberia to make more cash, he will.

That and the Cowboys have a massive fanbase in the West Coast between California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. So, it makes sense also from a business standpoint that those fans get to see a few weeks of training as well.

I am pretty sure there is a clause somewhere in the CBA saying they can't practice if above 90º F and the wind can't be over 20 MPH, and not at the same time. :lmao:

What have we had now in Texas without no rain, over 100º for like 60 plus days. Or sure seems like it with no relief in sight.
Even with my lawn sprinklers 3 times a week, my grass is turning brown in spots.

I'm sure talent doesn't have anything to do this and it's just a case of the summer heat.

I think you can still have a tough, grueling training camp without including life threatening heat into the equation.

I mean, you can't now because of the sissified rules for players but back then you could.

Sucks because the coaches didn't make it this way!!! Players complained

Agreed. The players really did this to themselves, and it's why the injuries are more prevalent, in my view. Of course, there's a line between enough practice and too much practice. However, the players don't have enough, and it shows. Look at all the soft tissue injuries lately between hamstrings and calf muscle injuries. Good job Miles Austin isn't playing anymore. He'd probably struggle to get through a single game.
