That's a SEQUEL not a remake :) Hence Cory Feldman reprising his role as one of the Frog brothers.

To Kill a Mocking Bird. You're just never going to get that any better then it already is.

Gone With the Wind. Ditto.

Lonesome Dove. You will never get a better fit for Woodrow Call and Augustus McCrae then Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. However, interestingly enough, back in the early 70s, Lonesome Dove was originally intended to be cast for John Wayne as Woodrow and Henry Fonda as Augustus. Henry Fonda was going to be cast as Jake Spoon. It was going to be called Streets of Laredo. I would not have minded seeing that.

Blazing Saddles should never be remade. You would screw it up because you would have to be politically correct and that would totally ruin everything IMO.

Boy, there would be absolutely no way they could remake that movie.

I have to agree with josee except for star wars. I know everyone will jump on me about that but I just don't the craze about this movie(maybe I'm too young to get it? I'm 25) I fall asleep watching that stuff.

You wouldn't have felt that way back in 1977.

Yep. I'm blaming in on your age as well.

Imagine any movie or series of movies which has enjoyed worldwide popularity during your lifetime. Now, multiply that universal appeal by a factor of two... three... four... etc.

If you can picture that, you have the original Star Wars.

May The Force Be With You. :)

I agree with you on Star Wars. At least the original. And I used to really love watching it as a kid. I remember it would come on every year and they'd have like an hour long special about it before the movie and it was something I always looked forward to.

Flash forward to the prequels and me re-watching the originals again after not having seen them for awhile and I came away thinking that A New Hope wasn't really that good and was extremely slow in some parts. The dialogue was often very poor and the acting was pretty bad in some cases. It in fact reminded me a lot of how the prequels turned out. The pacing is pretty similar to Phantom Menace.

Empire and Jedi hold up a lot better IMO, but Lucas had a lot more help on the scripts and I don't believe he directed them either.

I agree with your points about Star Wars. It is not a perfect movie, but it had a huge impact on movie making. Some of that was timing and some of it was just that it was different than other sci fi movies. They could redo the movie and improve the acting, dialogue, pacing and even special effects, but they would never be able to replicate the impact of the film. That is why they should not remake it.
