Moving forward, what are we going to do about this secondary?

As far as the safeties go, I think we can all agree that it's time to upgrade from Church and Wilcox. I don't know if it's the coaching, the scheme, or what, but neither one looks like a starting safety. And you saw that tonight, both had opportunities for interceptions, both had opportunities to come up and make big tackles, and both (particularly Wilcox) took bad angles on the run by Powell.

Now the corners, I know some people are holding out hope for Claiborne but I feel what you've seen is what you get. We picked up a guy this past week who was able to do in one game what neither of our starting corners have done since week 14 of last season.

Ideally I think Jones slides into one of those safety spots next season, but this is a lot of bodies to try and replace in one off season. Who stays, who goes

I'd take a good look at Mitchell. If you wanted Claiborne, he should sign for next to nothing. The safeties, I'd cut. Doesn't matter the cap hit. They're a glaring account of non accountability and stupid play. The only thing I think we have to build on is Byron and Oscan. That's it.

I think we keep Claiborne with a low in guarantees and high in incentives contract and let Carr move on. Draft a CB in the first 2 rounds and move Jones to FS.

Wilcox perplexes me. There was a point last season where I thought the arrow was pointing up for him and that this was the year he would take the leap. From a physical standpoint he's what you want back there but the guy just doesn't have the instincts to play the position.

Nothing and we are gonna have to like it! :(

Too many holes for one off-season.

Carr did a good Job holding BMarsh to 74 yds on 4 receptions. Thats more than Revis did against Dez, and a 1st start QB.

Draft strength is the secondary. Need at least a starter and nickle or dime.

It's not overly difficult given our cap and draft position. Right now we have 2 keepers in Scandrick and Jones. Church/Wilcox should be depth only.

Carr+Claiborne gone. Sign Tillman for 1m a year. Ramsey in first and King in early 3rd.

There's a lot of FA this year. And our draft position allows us to lose up on some serious talent.

Either get zone corners and stick to it, or pick man corners and call man coverage.

First thing you do is get Church and Wilcox off the team. I don't even want to see either as a backup because they'd come in due to injury. Neither one of those guys is an NFL safety. Church has been out of his depth for a while now. Just being a sure tackler is not enough for a safety in 2015 and he doesn't even do that anymore, so he has no use out there. Wilcox is a disaster as well. I had hopes for him because he is a good athlete, but I always felt like he was just bad at playing safety. He does so many boneheaded things (how many times he is going to flat out grab a pass catcher deep into the secondary?) and the angles he takes haven't improved since he got here. He isn't even hitting people hard anymore. I think this is as good as we're gonna get out of Wilcox and he's lacking.

Can Someone find that "Church is just as good as Cam Chancellor" thread in week 1?

Not that I really need to piss myself, but it was Epic.

Sign old man tillman but don't resign Claiborne? Nah that would be silly.

Our secondary has been bad for a long time, can anyone remember the last time we had a good secondary? For the longest, when we needed our corners to step up and make a play or simply not give up a first down on 3rd down they've not been able to do it.
