Moving to Fort Worth

It depends on where in Ft. Worth you move to. Far North Ft Worth by the Speedway is pretty lean on shopping right now. Businesses have not caught up to the increasing housing in this area. However, Keller has a lot of good areas to shop as well as good restaurants. If you like decent seafood, Joe's Crabshack on I35 in North Ft Worth is pretty good.

BTW, the last time I went to the Speedway, I walked over from my subdivision. Less than a mile from our subdivision's back entrance.

I've been in that area a few times myself

I'll probably regret asking but... what is the Jolly Roger?
The Jolly Roger is flea-bag dump of a motel that most people *live* in rather than rent for a day or a week and is frequented by drugs dealers, user, and other less desirable types. Not a place you want to be... EVER! :laugh2:

LOL

but I don't like sand in my toes or slow music.. more like cowboys football and huddles :lmao:

I'm looking for shopping and resturants

Lewisville mall is sweet.

They have an official Cowboys store too.

Also there is a cajun restraunt called Razoos. Its my favorite place to eat.

You will sware off Razoos if you head over to Pappadeaux's and try the Pasta Mardi Gras.

i won't. pappa-whatever (steak, cajun, mexican) all suck to me. seems more pretentious and less food. i've gone to each of them 2-3 times and unless a group is going there and i have to meet the group, i never go.

Pappadeaux is ok. The one in Kemah was the best I've ever had. I've only been once, but I lean towards Joe's Crab Shack now.

Pappasito's is overrated. Never been to the steak place.

Razoo's has good drinks. Food is so-so.

I like Boudreaux's which began down here..and have now opened up a couple locations in DFW.

BJ's Breweries is pretty great. There's one of I-20 by the Parks Mall and there's another in Addison.

There's a bunch of places off I-30, east and west of downtown FW.

I'm sure there are a bunch of malls you'll like. I like Hulen mall and Parks mall (Arlington). Never been to the Galleria in Dallas. Northeast mall and the surrounding shopping centers work for me in a pinch.

Pretentious? Odd. I never sense that.

I don't eat much seafood so I never go to Pappadeaux's unless I'm getting the Pasta Mardi Gras. (pasta, crawfish, shrimp, and andouille sausage with this incredibly good sauce) It literally is the only thing I eat there. I normally don't really eat crawfish, but the Pasta Mardi Gras has it, and I gladly eat it then :)

I need to hit that up but the catfish at Razoos is bomb.com

Cool, I live in the Lake Worth/Saginaw area. Not a lot as the shopping and restaurants have not caught up with the housing. There is however a lot of building going on. I joined the new 24 fitness in Lake Worth and there is a Logan's Roadhouse going up.
I usually head to the Keller area, downtown Fort Worth is fun and well as the Hulen area in South FW.

I moved from Florida about 2 years ago and I love Fort Worth. Cheaper than Florida too but I miss it round January.

Pappadeaux = greatness. I go there pretty often because there isn't a damn thing on the menu I don't like.

As far as specific to Fort Worth, or at least in this part of Texas, Pizzeria Uno is good and they've closed them all in this area pretty much except in Fort Worth. You can't beat it for deep dish Chicago style pizza around here. It's on Houston St downtown and I wish I could get over there to eat more often than I do.

wow! Thank yall so much. So many great suggestions. Cant wait to get there and try all of them.

Oh and Dallas... :laugh2: No worries w/ me. I'm worse than the guys sometimes

Thanks again everyone.

Made it to Fort Worth this afternoon. Everything is fine so far... Huge and scary looking though

You're going to hate the north loop of 820. Especially between i35 to where it meets highway 121. :banghead:

Papadeaux's is decent. It's a chain, though, so temper your expectations. We have two here in Atlanta. I had no idea it was a Texas chain until I visited my cousins in Houston and every other restaraunt there is a "Pappa's xxxxxx"...bbq, hamburgers, steakhouses, etc.

I noticed someone mentioned Razoo's. We used to have them here in Atlanta. DO NOT GO. Worst service and craptastic excuse for cajun food.

Ugh, WG, you LIKE joe's crab shack? They are awful. I'd almost rather go to a Red Lobster. Almost.

Ft. Worth is huge and scary? I think you can get from one side to another in 15 minutes. lol

Good luck with your new job...and fresh start in the big city. :laugh2:

I've been once and I liked what I had. Their crab cakes were delish.

For seafood chain restaurants, in no particular order, I like Boudreaux's (local to Houston (not the S.A. Boudros), Pappadeaux, Red Lobster, Joe's Crabshack. Razoo's is kinda far down the list. For the price, I can get better food. But I do like their drinks.
