On his final drive he threw two picks that were dropped. His best pass completion that saved the game was a desperation toss up. He threw 8 yard passes all night and only had 103 yards at the start of the 4th. Just missing a wide open Burris on that roll out should have eliminated him from consideration.

Here's the real MVP's - Strahan-Tuck-Osi

They harrassed and hit Brady all night. Holding the NFL's most prolific offense to 89 yards and 14 points and Brady to 49 yards passing in the first half. Plus they wouldn't allow the Pats to run.

I'd agree wholeheartedly. If I were to pick just one player, it would likely be Justin Tuck.

I think he was terrific tonight. His calm demeanor that has made him have to eat more crap than anyone in the league played a huge part in there win tonight.

Giants fans should be damn proud.

Yes, the defense was huge. And on offense, I thought Tyree or Smith were better than Eli, but the QB gets the blame/praise in most circumstances.

Just happy the Pats lost

haha i admit i payed no attention to who won MVP... i thought Burress won it for some reason i guess cause he caught the GW TD. haha so eli won it? i guess i was too busy laughin my *** off at the Pats haha!

Without Eli and last drive they lose.

He definately made some bad throws, but remember, you win games in clutch time. As well as they played for the most part, the Giants defense folded in clutch time and Eli didnt.

Yeah, but it took Eli and the last drive to win because the offense had done next to nothing to that point. I think MVP has to go to someone on the DL.

But shouldn't the MVP be for the overall game performance and not a single series?

If the Giants hadn't shut down the high-powered, historic Pats offense, Eli's comeback wouldn't have mattered.

I think the defense should have received that award because they pressured Brady into looking average all night.

BTW, this reminds me of Super Bowl 28 when Emmitt Smith received the MVP. But, really, James Washington should have won it.

Terrific? He didn't make any incredibly stupid mistakes -- well, he got saved on the one he did make (the fumble) -- that's about it.

Whether a team wins or loses has too much effect on people's opinion on an individual player's performance.

as Aikman said

the QB either gets too much blame when they lose, or too much acclaim when they win

praising Eli for this game is incredibly simple-minded, he didn't **** up, but at this point in his career, and w/ how much was invested in him, that was the least he should have done

This game and they way it was played reminded me of Parcells' Giants vs Bills SB

I don't think he was the MVP tonight. He didn't make too many huge mistakes (though he was bailed out a couple times there) but the defense as a whole should have probably gotten the MVP award.

You know, you certainly could have seen the MVP going to a defensive player tonight. They held the Patriots to 14 points. An awesome job. But dont' sell Eli short. He had a very solid game. But more than that, he had a incredibly good playoffs. He really led this team when it got to crunch time. He played damn good football.

I think there could be a case for someone getting it on D, but Eli did lead them back. That was a hell of a game. I admit I did not want to see the patriots go 19-0. I was a giant fan tongiht, and I specifically remeber saying the following this night, which I never thought I would ever say:

"Come on Eli, get it done.".

He did.

Yeah I think he was terrific tonight. He just took his team the length of the field to beat an all time team, with a ton of pressure in his face and the weight of the world on his shoulder, and he won. He didnt make any mistakes. that wasnt a fumble by any stretch, he was clearly down.

I didnt say he is a terrific quarterback, I said he was terrific tonight. Too many guys like yourself rely on stats when sometimes the stats dont mean squat like tonight. Manning was smart, decisive and took care of the ball. IF steve smith catches that ball in the second qtr the giants probably win by more points.
