Yeah I think he was terrific tonight. He just took his team the length of the field to beat an all time team, with a ton of pressure in his face and the weight of the world on his shoulder, and he won. He didnt make any mistakes. that wasnt a fumble by any stretch, he was clearly down.

I didnt say he is a terrific quarterback, I said he was terrific tonight. Too many guys like yourself rely on stats when sometimes the stats dont mean squat like tonight. Manning was smart, decisive and took care of the ball. IF steve smith catches that ball in the second qtr the giants probably win by more points.
I think his defense was terrific. His defense held an "all time" team to 14 points. The Patriots defense wasn't much to write home about.

Eli was the busdriver. He didn't make any mistakes. He had that one crazy play, but there wasn't much impressive about his game other than not making mistakes.

No debate there, the giants D was great and they won the game, the only way to beat the pats was to stop them from scoring.

However, Manning had a tremendous drive to win the game. Nothing he does can ever take away how good he was on that drive.

But yeah obviously, if the pats were going up and down the field it wouldnt have mattered, but manning stood tall in the face of pressure and found guys all over the field.

I actually thought Tuck was going to be the MVP but I'm fine with Eli winning it. He threw an INT that wasn't his fault. And that last drive alone is probably worth him being the MVP.

Tuck was absolutely without a doubt robbed. But I'm sure he's not too worried about it right now.

Politically Correct? WHat are you talking about. Theogt made a valid point that I agree with and I said so. Why would I argue with something I agree with?

Look back through history, if a qb is decent and his team wins, particularly late in the game the qb always gets the nod. Plenty of defensive players have been given the heisman on the mvp because it is hard to recognize if it is one guy or many guys that are causing the disruption.

Justin Tuck is not going to care if he is not the mvp, only a complete Rick with a P would care.

And am I being politically correct for having an opinion of manning tonight that disagrees with yours?

and another thing, had that been us tonight and Jay Ratliff had the game tuck had but Romo made the plays manning did, particularly the throw to tyree and then had the game winning td Do you think there is any doubt Romo is the mvp?

no, that you just throw alot of cliches around

"the better team won"

"they deserved it"

"he played great because he didn't lose the game"

"he made plays when he needed to"

Oh okay. Should I say things I dont truly mean for the sake of arguing? That is not why I come here.

The giants did deserve it, manning was better than a bus driver tonight I think and much like many successful qbs he did make plays when he needed to.

Sorry for being politically correct, maybe tomorrow I will start some threads about the aweseomeist players and how we could trade two number 1s for moss and win the next 5 superbowls.

Eli Manning played well, I can't argue with him getting the award. The Giants defense deserved A LOT of credit though!

If you don't think that Eli Manning played HUGE down the stretch then you don't know anything about football, or you have such a huge bias against the guy you can't see.

He threw up a prayer to Tyree? How about fighting out of 3 guys who SHOULD have sacked him before he made the throw that even gave Tyree the chance to make what was, undeniably, a HUGE catch. A great play on both ends.

In terms of "almost throwing picks", have you ever seen a drive like that before? Every drive that is like that involves some good plays and bad plays. 83 yards, 2 minutes, guys in the QB's face every play, it is like a boxing match, you are going to have some rough plays and rough passes on a drive like that. It is hand to hand combat. You are clawing and scratching to get the ball in the endzone.

Huge pass to Smith for the first down that gave them the shots at the endzone.

Manning played well, period. Just give the guy his due.

I have to disagree...Osi and Tuck were both gassed and taking themselves out of the game frequently in the 4th quarter...they played a great 3 quarters and somewhat disappeared when needed in the fourth.

To me it was clearly going to be Eli or Welker, depending on who won the game...Welker tied the record for receptions in a SB and had over 100 yards. That's usually good enough.

Eli executed a good offensive game plan against a NE defense that was also playing inspired football. He made the plays that were critical to them winning the game. His first TD pass to take the lead was perfect according to everyone, including Aikman. He took his team on an 85 yard drive with about 2 1/2 minutes left in the game for the win, and on that drive, he had two great scrambles...on one, Burress moved behind his man and then stopped causing an incompletion, and on the other, at least 3 Pats had their hands on Eli and he simply pulled away against all odds to complete the pass to Tyree.

You can hate on Eli all you want, but that 85 yard drive, through the air and against a stout pass rush, is the stuff MVP's are made of in SB history. Eli was the only possible MVP selection on the Giants side of the ball, imo. I still think Welker had the award in his pocket until that final drive.

The real MVP was the Giants Defensive line.
No one portion won this game. The defensive wore themselves down on that final drive and couldnt stop New England's late 4th quarter lead changing drive. Eli's the one who stepped up and made plays to his receivers, including that remarkable tackle breaking pass to David Tyree who made a catch 9 out of 10 receiver's would've dropped.

Again, Im not taking away what their D line did. They commanded the line of scrimmage in every way and punked Brady when their own offense was playing sloppy. But it's about doing it for 60 minutes and they did it for bout 55. It's about being clutched and even tho he played below average for 3 quarters, Eli was clutch when his D wasnt.

I'd agree wholeheartedly. If I were to pick just one player, it would likely be Justin Tuck.

You got that right....Tuck was awesome!

19 out of 34 is not good. AND do not forget that near pick to Samuels- that went right through his hands. That pass to Tyree was just thrown up there with hope- nothing more. Eli played pretty well but then he also got a lot better protection then Brady did. Inspired defense by the Pats- WHAT game were you watching? The Pats D was clearly the weakest unit on the field last night. The MVP award should have been shared by Osi, Tuck and Strahan= they never gave Brady time to get into a rhythym all night.
