Actually... I'll just speak from my 20/20.

After enduring a comedy of posts in game chat about how badly Dak was doing tonight, I fully expected to hit up FZ and see a littany of posts that would compel me to hurl. Instead, my faith was restored by actually seeing posts that highlight exactly what my own 20 20s saw. That is a supposed #1 receiver that did absolutely nothing to help his quarterback tonight.

It seemed as though every offensive series I had to actually find Dez on the field to make sure he was actually out there. The guy pulled one of his classic trademark big game disappearing acts tonight.

In my eyes at least, it works like this. You get open. You create an opportunity. A ball is thrown your way. We move the chains. It's pretty simple. Football is never going to be known for challenging rocket science in level of difficulty. You get open. You get the ball. It's that simple. Dez, for whatever reason tonight was getting zero separation. I can't wait until the actual all 22 comes out so the supposed chat room experts can eat their own lunch.

As a quarterback, half of the time you are going to look for your #1 receiver. That's natural. They call them #1s for good reason. Ask OBJ. He can tell you what a #1 is supposed to do even after struggling for most of a game. You never stop grinding. There's a reason why they call them #2s 3s and 4s... Because more often than not you aren't going to win a game keying in on them all game long.

I'm not sure what happened to Dez but I do know this... If this team is to make any noise in the playoffs, Dak and Dez will need to get on the same page. I find is strikingly curious that Dak completed a high percentage of his passes tonight when not throwing to Dez and an abysmal percentage when targeting Dez. These two have got to link up. Dez has got to get his freaking head in the game. Every game... Not just when he feels like it. Loafing will get you Ls. Grinding will get you Ws. Grind it out, finish routes, and the ball will find its way to you. If we are to validate this great season with a Super Bowl appearance, it will be because Dez decided to leave the disappearing act at home.

While Dez was bad, some of the throws to him or to another receiver in the same area were not where they were supposed to be. Example there was one pass along the sideline Witten did and out and dez did a comeback but the ball either was over throw to Witten or under throw to Dez. Part me believes the route call at the line was confused, its a weird route combo an out and comeback in the same area.

Dez didn't seem to know the ball was coming until he saw the defensive back prepare to catch it. Then he collided with one of the Giants.

First INT was on Dez, accidentally. He slipped. Sucks but w/e.

Second INT was a ball that shouldn't of been thrown to Dez who also ran a bad route.
Even if he stayed in that route, still would of been a 50/50 jump ball.

Dak looked off and never shook it off. Oh well. It was bound to happen.
Dez had a bad night. Good to see some Cowboy fans eager to bounce on that(not a direct shot at you OP)

The point is that,, in crucial games like last night, we need Dez to bring it. 100 percent come to ball. We already know teams are going to pin their ears back to try and disrupt our offense. Stack the box and try to take away the run option. Blitz blitz blitz. That's the formula. We need our #1 more involved both from the perspective of plays designed to get him open (Linehan is nkt without blame here) and him just mentally being prepared to dominate a big game.

The key to progressing in the playoffs is having all of our tools on offense ready to roll. Thats how we've done it all season. We need Dez there mentally every game from here on out.

I wouldn't say Dak should not have throw to Dez on that second interception. That's the type of throw you make to a receiver expecting him to make the catch or make sure it's not intercepted. Perhaps the mistake Dak made was not realizing Dez was taking the game off and then expecting Dez to show some effort on the play.

if you look he was expecting it somewhere else not in the "middle" of the field
It was a piss poor throw on a bad decision. Dez didn't expect the ball to come to him because the safety was there to help in the middle of the field. If it was an improvised play it should've been thrown to the outside for one-on-one against the DB.

Trust me, I agree that Dez needed to bring his A game, but didn't.
Dunno if it was a mental thing, or he was hung over, but yea he didn't show up. Add in a QB that was off, it makes for a game where we only score 7 points.

I agree that if Dez was in position he could/should of broken it up, but when your aim is off, throwing a deep ball into double coverage just isn't a smart play.
Dez left a lot on the bone, hell, never bit into the meat.

Are you saying that throw was off? I think it was put in the right spot IF Dez had kept running.
