what no we gotta job and we going to get it done baby Switzer?
Tough assignment. Here is my effort, though I did not attempt specialists, returners or head coaches. I tried to take into account 1) contributions to the Cowboys, 2) overall skill and 3) performance during the particular era. Mel Renfro wasn’t a better CB than Deion Sanders, for instance, but I think he contributed more to the Cowboys. Erik Williams was the most dominating OT in Dallas history, but because of his unfortunate injury, he didn’t contribute as much to the Cowboys as otherwise would have been the case. A couple of places I cheated and created ties. Obviously the Cowboys’ younger current players are penalized by the format. I have a couple of eccentric picks included, but what the heck.

People forget how good Danny was as a punter.Danny white didn't make the top five in punting but did as a QB....
People forget how good Danny was as a punter.
Romo shouldn't be ahead of White either.I agree with most on your list. Nice job!! The only thing I have an issue with is putting Dak ahead of Danny White, as of right now. Maybe after all is said and done, Dak will surpass Danny White. But, currently, I don't feel like he should be ahead of him.
I agree with most of your list but Irvin is clearly the best receiver ever. I will put Waters ahead of Marion for sure and most likely Williams too. I would flip Too Tall and D law.My All-time Cowboys Players Top 5 Ranking list (per position unit)

The fact that so many current players on this list with players that went to conference title games and Super Bowls..is proof how WOEFUL this coaching has been. There is ZERO chance Dak is better than Danny White. How can you have Deion...but not TO? Jaylon Smith is not better than Dat Nguyen. Can't have a list of DTs and not include Laroi Glover. Cannot put Travis Frederick over Mark Stepnoski. Can't put Zach Martin over Nate Newton. These guys simply have not done enough. My All-time Cowboys Players Top 5 Ranking list (per position unit)

I'm not saying Williams or Marion weren't good, just thought Charlie Waters was better.i hear ya,
unfortunately Roy Williams could have finished his career as one of the most flat out intimidating safeties in NFL history. .. if he had a true heart and passion for football.
It was being reported that he just wasn't a good student of the game and he would only work so much on it. And his work ethic and leadership was in question.
His first two years here, he was just flat out lighting up the league.
WRs would pull up and short cut their routes over the middle because they were that terrified of Roy's bone crushing hits ..and word was getting around fast. !
Plus " Biscuit " actually had ball hawk skills, he was getting the INTs and forced fumbles. - His early reputation and name may even drawn a few "WTH -gimmie " mystery pro bowl invites .
Seems like after Darren Woodson retired, Roys' game just tailed spin down so badly, then comes the horrid bad coverage angles, lack of discipline, finger pointing, coachable issues, the lack of participation commitment, etc and Cowboys decided to release him and call it quits, it got to a point later when he played for Cincy, mere scrubs were running him over.
Roy could have been a true hall of famer,.. but seem to settle for just wanting to collect a Tuesday paycheck.
Brock Marion ended up having a surprisingly stellar career with 3 pro bowl invites including 31 career INTs and 4 forced fumbles.
He didn't have the dynamic hitting ability Roy did, but he seemed more consistent and dependable in his overall game than Williams, imo.
fair...but to this point...I would not put Martin ahead of guys who blocked for all time leading rusher in NFL history...and they won Super Bowls.- If Dat Nyguen had the ability to stay healthy, I think he had innate sean lee-like instincts, especially when it came to playing the passing lanes and getting the INTs,
and would have eventually made a pro bowl and stellar career. but he was just as brittle as sean lee.
Jaylon has had only one pro bowl year, but even that was more than Nyguen ever had.
- as I look down the history line, it doesn't seem we have had an overwhelming good line of middle LBs. ...Eugene Lockhart, ..Robert Jones, ..Bradie James, and I couldn't remember if Randall Godfrey bounced from outside to middle, etc.
- Zack Martin is arguably the best OG in the game (only Indy's Quenton Nelson may be better) ..and at this pace for a career, he stands a chance to eventual be a HOF'er.
I don't think I could never say that with Newton.
Although I would flop Romo and Don, I agree that it's close and can agree w/ your list.I'll do QB for now.
1) Roger Staubach
2) Troy Aikman
3) Tony Romo
4) Don Meredith
5) Danny White
Roger/Troy are close and so is Tony/Don. Danny has to be ahead of Dak because of posteason success. Give Dak a few good years and playoff runs and he enters the discussion for #3. Dak/Morton are tied for 6.
