My Biggest Fear

My biggest fear is that, aside from micromanaging the cap, Jerry and Stephen think the team is already good enough to go all the way. The argument could be made. We were one play away from a showdown with Seattle, a team we had already beat, in the NFCC Game.

I am terrified that the FO doesn't see a need to go after someone like Hardy or match for Murray because they think we are good enough already and therefor would rather stick to a strict cap management.

Anyone else share this fear?

I am not saying this is happening, I am just saying I am terrified it might be going through their heads somewhat.

Who knows what Jerry is thinking. He is basically senile about these things. Stephen and Jason - I have a hard time believing they think this team is good enough.

I said that in another thread. 12-4 might cause the team to be complacent.

We're not repeating that if we don't get help somewhere.

they were smart not to overpay. it was a hard decision that they made, and i commend them for it.

I agree, but doing nothing on the defensive side of the ball. Inexcusable. You don't have the burden of re-signing Murray anymore.

I agree and I said all along I was ok with the Murray situation. I also realize that free agency isn't over yet and there are plenty of guys out there left who can help. It was just a thought that came to me amidst a barrage of texts and FB messages from people.

If they weren't going to improve the team they wouldn't have resigned Free or restructured Tyron.

I think they bought into JG's process. They were tired of switching coaches every 4 years and wanted to get some continuity. I think they gave Garrett until last season to show some solid results. They went 12-4 and made the playoffs and Garrett was extended. They saw the results of investing in the OL and RKGs.

It is more about trusting the process and allowing Garrett to put his stamp on the club. Teams like NE, BAL, PITT, GB and recently SEA build thru draft and typically avoid Free Agency. JJones has always been very reactionary and tries to follow the hot trends and this is just the latest, but if it works it might be the new normal.

I don't think they will be complacent. They already said they wanted to address their defense. I expect it to start to be addressed perhaps this weekend.

They said on the Break today that the players who left Dallas had signed contracts for 78 million. If they resigned these players for that money people would be freaking out. Last year this team wasn't good enough to get by GB with them so why not try and improve.

They want to retool the defense in the worst way. They don't have the coinage to do it right now.

Murray is not as big a deal as some make it. Not saying it won't make any difference. But not the difference in being a contender. A poor pass rush and LBer play along with secondary play will kill that dream.

This is new chartered territory for us. The Steelers, Packers, and Patriots seem to keep their name out of this free agency thing every year. Well at least the first wave. How do they cope with it? lol.

Not sure why you guys are surprised, Dallas is doing what they said they would do.....not over pay for free agents. We don't need superstars at each position, just need solid rotational guys.

That being said a guy like Hardy would be perfect, bargain that could turn into a star.

They draft way better than us. Continue to.

Can we please let free agency and the draft play out before we start assuming what the front office is thinking? Maybe there is a ton of talent in this years draft that the professionals see and we don't. Just hang on tight and let the off-season be the off-season.
