Cap situation. projected 153.8
cap space 10.2 mil
roll over 10.1
rookie cap 9.2
So without any modifying contracts or releases Dallas will have 11.1 mil to spend

Restructures:
Brandon Carr: I think Dallas and Claiborne are ready to move on. Carr shouldnt be starting and probably wont but Dallas still owes him money in 2016, and 2017. His value is low, i would just Ask him to cut his base salary to vet mil which is 858k mil for him and 4.717 mil in guaranteed money for 2016, add a 2nd yr with a 1-2mil base and his 2.717 mil thats still on the books. Dallas gains 8.252 mil on the cap. taking it to 19.352 that Dallas has to spend minus the rookie cap. If he doesnt accept then you release him and save 7.434 on the cap and spending goes to 18.834 mil. But i think he will accept. I dont see a team paying Carr 5mil+.
adjusted cap space 19.352mil

Tyron Smith, Restructure 8mil of his base
Adjusted cap space 27.352mil

Tyrone Crawford, his deal was made for this. Restructure 6mil
Adjusted cap space 33.352 mil

Releases:
Barry Church, I see no difference between Church and Wilcox. Both are bad in coverage with Church being slightly better at tackling. Church is more expensive and i think there will be a new S to go with Jones starting in 2016. Saves 2.75mil
Adjusted cap space 36.12mil

So with this scenario 4 moves would free this team up to alot. 45.32mil in cap room but 36.12 to spend as you always have to account for the rookie contracts.

With no big FAs to resign this team should be big players in FA.

I would say GHardy is a big re-sign

Carr should be cut and replaced. Anyone in the 5m is a savings and an improvement over 0 INTs

I would spend FA money on QB2, RB3, 1T, FS and mid level CB.

Dont think Hardy is back. And why a FS? Jones is starting FS. Even started there once Olotaye was signed.

I agree that is if Jones is going to lineup as a FS. If he is going to continue to be a jack of all trade, then Dallas will need a FS. My hope is they will put Jones at CB or FS and let him play and develop so that he can take full advantage of his skills

I don't want to waste 2 years on a draft pick. I will take BJones and Oscan at CB(plus Mitchell, Olatoye, draft pick and mid level vet) with Weddle and Church/Wilcox as Safeties.

GHardy should be back. We ate all the bad PR, now is time to reap some rewards. He is a perfect fit with DLaw, RGregory and TCrawford.

Not sure if Hardy is back or not but I will say this...he didn't get the numbers the Boys or fans hoped he would get but I believe the layoff was a factor. I have a feeling next season the rust is off and the Pro Bowl guy will be back. It would be unfortunate if Dallas took the PR hit then let him regain form elsewhere.

I tend to agree. Don't forget about David Irving - he was pretty good in the rotation before he went on injured reserve.

I'm with you. And if he goes, you then open up another need. And does anyone then want to invest significant draft resources at defensive end on top of the 2nd and 3rd round draft picks invested in Lawrence in 2014 and the 2nd rounder used for Randy Gregory in 2015?

Because I sure don't!

Dallas is not going to spend big money on a 31 yr old. I would go Tony Jefferson if i was going S in FA. But i really like Cash in the draft.

When you have a lockerrom who is basically saying they dont like you you can rest assure ur not coming back. And reports are thats exactly what happened with him(Hardy), and Mincey kinda said the same thing but also said he didnt have a problem with him.

I dont see why Jones wouldnt be FS. He was starting there before Claiborne got hurt and after OLotay was signed. They move him around and Heath comes in and plays FS.

I think Carr will be offered a reduced contract... if he accepts... who knows?

I would hope Church is cut... Wilcox needs to go also.

Mo could be back.

Agree Carr has very little leverage here. I dont think anybody would pay him more then what he would get out of Dallas. And i think he actually wants to be in Dallas.

That's enough to sign Miller to a nice deal and eliminate RB as a need in the draft. Although, Jerry came out this week saying that he doesn't believe in spending big bucks in FA as the return isn't there. So who knows.

rookie cap 9.2

Remember that even if our rookie pool is $9.2 million, signing the rookies won't use up $9.2 million of cap room. All of the rookie will either knock another player out of our Top 51 or not have a cap number high enough to be in our Top 51. Right now, with nine draft picks, a rookie pool of $9.2 million would mean we'd need only about $4.8 million of cap room for the rookies.

Why would Carr accept that? He refused to take a pay cut before. We just need to designate him a June 1st cut and move on. He isn't worth the headache at any rate of pay.

Forgot about that. That 4th pick will be around 3.7-3.8 in new cap.Dallas has the 3rd pick in round 2 which will actually be the 34th pick instead of 35 because patriots dont have a RD1 pick. Last yr Donovan smith had a cap hit of 1.376 so escalate this yrs pick closer to 1.45 estimating. Thanks adam 4.8 sounds about right.

But would be nice to see how Dallas uses this season with no big FAs to sign as i dont see Hardy being back. There are going to be alot of young established vets. I like Wilkerson at DT and Jefferson at SS in FA. Think something like that would be great for this team. IDK if they would go for a player like Wilkerson especially after just giving Crawford alot of money. I dont think they go old with a player like Mebane. I also like McClain next to Crawford but the guy has to be able to stay on the field.
