It has something to do with the generation difference between you and the cousin. I don't really know the specifics.
In this case, I just thought it was funny because it sounds like you'd be fine if that cousin was removed from the family dynamic.

It was 40 fried chicken wings. And I took the $12 hit and just sucked it up but I just can't believe for that amount of money she provided us with such a crappy meal

That's why no one said anything they just sucked it up and dealt with it.
I can't even tell you how hype I was going to my mom house to find out what I contributed $12 too. I was like "what is this surprise dinner I am having"

I have never in my life bought all chicken wings for myself for dinner. It's always a chicken Breast, and two wings or a Breast, thigh, and wing.
We are supposed to meet up for dinner next week with friends but I don't know if I want to be around her after what happened on friday lol

Look at it this way. You learned a valuable lesson for only $12.00. Family is the worst when it comes to money or business. I don't know why that is or what people think sometimes but it's cost me plenty and I'm still paying for it to this day.
