Look at it this way. You learned a valuable lesson for only $12.00. Family is the worst when it comes to money or business. I don't know why that is or what people think sometimes but it's cost me plenty and I'm still paying for it to this day.

Family is the worst?

When it comes to money and business, they are horrific. When it goes bad, it can really go bad. Probably because your trust factor is so high that you overlook the red flags that you probably wouldn't with non-family. I was overseas in the 90's and made a sibling my power of attorney. There were some business dealings as well. I'm still paying for it (literally and figuratively) to this day.

The family got together last night to exchange gifts because my cousin and her daughter is going out of town today. So instead of the family getting together today on Christmas Eve, we met last night. My mom didn't feel like cooking so my cousin came up with the idea to buy dinner for the whole family and wanted everyone to contribute $12.00 a piece.

So I get to the house and see that the dinner was 40 wings and a pan of mac and cheese? There was No Chicken Breast , chicken Thighs, or no biscuts. And she wants everyone to believe that 40 wings and a pan of mac and cheese cost $75???? I am so disgusted because I feel so cheated and the food was even all that good.

I could have gotten myself a much better dinner for $12 dollars from Popeyes. Most grown people want something other than a chicken wing when eating fried chicken. And I can tell everyone at the table was trying to be polite and went along with it to avoid confrontation. Plus no one took any of the food home after we left the house. I believe everyone was disappointed for the money they put out.

Then she reveals to the family she got a $1000 christmas bonus from her job. Then why the hell did we give her $12.00 a piece? She could have kept that news about her bonus to herself
Unfortunately almost everybody has family members like this. You have the druggie, the pretentious, the show off, the has-been.....and the cheapskate/stingy. You should've called her out.

I have a terrible story between two cousins and an uncle and how one of my cousins got royally screwed out of a lot of money. I'll never look at my uncle the same.

I want to hear about her vacation! It was worth rescheduling the established family schedule and a cheap-*** dinner. I'm hoping they went to Hedonism!

I once had little pool party for my daughter and my cousins kids.

So it was 5 adults and 3 kids.

He brought a cake.... no, it was like a two people serving size piece of cake.
Like when you go to a restaurant and it's "for two"

Geez

Why the bleep don't you cook. A grown *** man should be able to cook a meal for a group of people. If anything.....buy bread, meats, cheeses, and make some mini sandwiches. Get some lil smokies and bbq sauce. Have people bring chips, dips, veggie tray, fruit tray, and drinks. Get some various pies and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Btw, your cousin should have been called out. Have a huge heated affair. It would have been a christmas to remember. Plus, i guarantee that kind of shenanigans would never have happened again

Your mom is probably tired of doing all the cooking every year.

Why not do a pot luck and have everything bring one or two items so she doesn't have to do all the work?

Thats what we started doing so she can enjoy the holiday more.
