My draft with honesty picks

I respect the OP's efforts, but even if someone redid the draft and we all loved it, what would that mean? Nada. It would just mean we were fans of what we think the players may be.

Now, my opinion is just a fan's take as well, not a pro who studies this and talks to the Coaches about what they like and watches film together. However, I am curious.

Was I the only fan who looked at the board and kept thinking this particular draft fell better for us had we still been running a 3-4? That's not criticism because as a Dallas fan since the 60's, I hate the 3-4. Just noting the irony.

Ok, so we signed and drafted Carr and Claiborne two man-man corners. So they don't fit the system right, so why are they still here? Does Selvie fit the system? Does Church? Do we scrap everyone, and if not why?

FYI not even Lovie Smith who ran the amazing tampa 2 follows its design much anymore. You need to play man to man these days. CBs playing zones are a thing of the past.....and try not to bring up Seattle because they play 4 times more man than zone. Bottom line is you need to be able to play man to man and be able to stop the run.

What you want, and what is happening are 2 different things. Lovie has a variation of the tampa 2. But rod is from montes but coached under lovie.

I don't know. I think with each system, you are looking for something. If Dallas had a 3-4, they would be competing with more teams. With the Tampa-2 they are looking for certain types of players, and you are competing with a handful of teams.

Exactly and Ealy is just another strong-side DE... And Dallas has several of them.

With this draft the Cowboys would still be hurting at their weakest defensive line spot... Weak-side DE.

I dont know if we will see Lawrence being much better if any better than Mincey atleast for next yr. You just never know.

Pete Carroll also runs a variation of their system.

Exactly......a defense with a STRONG front 7, not an undersized front 7 like the one we have and are continuing to build. Spencer 250, Lawrence 250, Melton 290 and McClain 300. Like I said enjoy watching teams run all over us and dominate the clock against us.

For someone that says enjoy so much, you sure do seem to be having a terrible time on this board. Why don't you go back to /b/ with your internet troll bully nonsense. You're failing really bad at starting thread wars. Probably can't even triforce, amirite?

Thanks for confirming that there are crazies everywhere

So basically you went along with the top 100 lists you found and a few of you favorite college players? How novel.

So what do you do? Pull a Jerruh and pick guys from a list that doesn't include consesus top 100 players and that you dislike? You are a true original...

Yeah, the same scheme that let up the worst numbers in franchise history.......keep sailing on that ship pal

Oh, so we should have just totally revamped the scheme back to a 2-gap 3-4, just so we could draft Nix? You could have the best scheme in the world, and without the players to make it work, it won't work.

So then your telling me we should get rid of Church, Claiborne, Carr and Spencer. They all are better suited to play other schemes right.

In 2012...Marinelli's Bears defense was 3rd in points allowed, 1st in takeaways with 44, 8th in sacks, and 6th in 3rd down efficiency. That was with Melton at the 3-tech & 6-1/300 lb. Stephen Paea at the 1-tech...Urlacher missing 4 games and ailing in others...and Peppers being the only player with double-digit sacks.

I don't pretend that I am qualified to run a NFL front office.

I still find it funny people think that a 3-4 NT can just be plugged into a 4-3 defense. Its a completely different scheme and assignment.

I have no skin in this game (i.e. the OP's would-be draft) but I have to laugh every time someone dismisses the idea of a NT type player in a 4-3. I'm pretty sure the Baltimore Ravens won their first Super Bowl on the backs of one of the better defenses this side of the 85 Bears, a defense which featured Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa on the interior of their DL.

Sam Adams: 6'3" 350lbs
Tony Siragusa: 6'4" 340lbs

Just qualified to determine who is and who isn't? Based on the fact that

Yeah, it's always a terrible idea to draft players that it takes more than one guy to stop...
I wouldn't take Ngata, JJ Watt, Calais Campbell or K. Williams even if they came at min FA prices. I mean they just don't fit.
But our 3-4 LB's can convert to 4-3 DE's no problem...

I certainly have some people salty today. I never said I was qualified to say who was or was not. Get more mad though. Maybe that will help you come up with something better.

I'm not mad. You mad bro?
You've been pounding on this guy because he has the gall to put up a draft he'd prefer to what Teh JJ did, putting him down for thinking he could do better than the great FO that has brought us basically 1 playoff win since 97.
If it ruffles your feathers that much that someone posts what he would have liked to happen in the draft, don't click on it.
If you find it fun and entertaining do what most do in this type of threads and offer your "what I would have liked"...

IF Mincey decides to play and not fart around trying to be a rap artist or recording tycoon, then he still wouldn't be half the pass rusher that Lawrence will be next year. Lawrence will take a year to bulk up so he can be more effective against the run. But in our scheme, the weakside end is mainly tasked with getting to the QB. Lawrence can do that 10 times better than Mincey. I actually don't think Mincey makes this team when all is said and done.

Your indignation is meaningless to me. It also belies your claims of dispassion. You are mildly amusing but schadenfreude is fairly antisocial behavior so I am just going to ignore you instead. toodles.
